You're relatively new to this, so let me tell you now. Don't expect them to be on time with patches. 90% of the time, it is delayed. ~Squeek |

![]() $1.80 for a shop permit that lasts 3 months. Pretty sweet. Best deal I saw was that dark mandress, er, enigmatic for 1.25 million. Scratch that. Forgot that someone sold an ilbi for 25 million. Sold 3 items so far! |

Scania has twice the amount of users as Bera, or more. I'd say that's pretty darn good. ~Squeek |

![]() Question: Why does tmac have 143 base dex?
I take it for the level 100 stuff. Although he really hates the level 100 overall. XD And wtf is this transaction fee bullshit now. 4% on stuff over 10 mill? So let's say I sold an item for 80 million, 3.2 million of that just disappears? Laaaaaaaame. |

![]() The transaction fees are complete and utter bullshit. Yeah, Wizet, we get the idea, you want to cut down inflation - fair enough. But that's about the stupidest possible way you can do it. Now we're going to have drop-trades everywhere for giant transactions, which means we're going to have giant drop scams going on. Bloody genius.

![]() Um... wait.
Making a percent of a payment simply dissappear would increase inflation. Reason being that people will charge more than things should be worth simply to make up for the lost money. Wizet is stupid.

![]() Honest to God, Chris, I told you in-game: Adding taxes decreases inflation, not increases it. With less money, people can't afford to pay high prices for things, and when the sellers of things with high prices cannot sell their trinkets, they decrease their prices to provoke buyers, hence prices decrease. "that's not how it is because people are stupid" is NOT a valid argument.
Besides, look at it this way - why would Wizet try to make inflation go up?

![]() Tokzic, wouldn't they increase their prices in order to get the same amount of money? Lowering their prices seems even dumber because they'd be getting less money.

That said, Noah and I talked this out. It seems that there won't really be a decrease or an increase. It will simply go up and down as inflation increases through the groupings for the taxing. Basically, it will slow inflation as prices approach the cutoff, but increase inflation once it's gone over it. Basically, we're both not completely right or wrong. Really though, inflation can't be stopped. Even if you made half of the money in the game dissappear, the value of the money would not double. It just doesn't work like that. Not in a situation like this, anyway. Real life: yea, that would hold true. MMO where most players are underage and retarded: not so much... if half of the money were to be erased, people would probably charge about 3/4 of the old price, and people would actually buy it. In short, you can't beat inflation. I can see where Wizet is coming from on this, but it really isn't a very good move in my opinion. Quote:
By the way, if you guys try this "basic economics" bullcrap on me again, you can just die. A MMO played chiefly by stupid teenagers and preteens will not work in exactly the way it should. Supply and demand (possibly the most basic principle of economics) have less meaning in this than they do in real life. EDIT: PS I have all quests done. All I have left is the lvl 65 cape quest and I already have the items for it. PPS yes, even the bone helm. I am now 1 speed short of haste with my speed gear

![]() It wouldn't drop by half exactly because of elasticity. Things aren't usually elastic in a 1:1 ratio, so dropping price by a certain amount won't raise demand the same percentage. Think about gas prices. If they dropped gas prices by half, people wouldn't buy twice as much, cuz you only need so much gas. On the same note, if they doubled gas prices, people wouldn't get half as much, because you still need a certain amount of gas in order to get where you have to go. People will pay ridiculous prices for things because they feel they NEED the items in the game.
Many things in the game are relatively inelastic. Things that people don't feel they need, things that are just for show or silly things (useless equips (baseball bats, lollipops, surfboards), speed equipment/scrolls, event items like King-Sized Stars, etc) are way more elastic. If the amount of money in the game was halved, prices of things people "need" (new equips, scrolls for equips, etc) would take longer to reduce in price, because people would still be willing to shell out big money for things that will really help them. Things like I mentioned before that aren't as much of a "need" would have to drop a lot in price for anybody to buy them. Even things that are only kinda needed, like scrolls for weapons, would drop more, just because people would be less willing to buy them with less money around. And as I said before, it's easier to move down a bracket than up one. For example, I saw a guy selling for 999,999 mesos rather than a million, just because if he hit the 1 million mesos tax bracket he'd keep less of the money. I don't know if it's the same way in jMS, but I'm fairly sure I've seen things in SSes of jMS for something,999 mesos. The only things that would raise in price are things in the middle of a tax bracket that have more to gain by raising to near the top of the bracket or things that are quite a bit above the highest bracket. Simply put: It won't affect prices that much. Money being taken out of the game will cause deflation, but people wanting their money's worth will cause price hikes in some goods. Overall, though, there's nothing to worry about. PS: Level 61. 8)

![]() Just the fact that we have a free market AND taxes both will lead to decreases in prices.
I tried to sell a whip today for 400k under the price it was 3 days ago and nobody bought it. It's under a million now. We're all competing with each other over prices here. It's a very very nice way to fix the economy. ~Squeek |

![]() I've seen whips for under a million already. Of course, I have no idea what prices are for whips usually. >___>
Speaking of prices, how much is a +5dex WG worth (5 60%s worked), really?
