Lol, dude I totally stopped talking about the ban. It's old news, the council voted to keep it, I can't press the issue further.
So when Manti asked if there was anything to discuss about the rules I brought up the point of editing/deleting post without permission. Nothing about the ban, lol, relax.

What about game-related posts that nevertheless violate forum rules? If the host is around right that minute, no problem, but what if they've gone for the day?

Mods can't just leave rules violatoins sitting there while we wait for the host to log on.

I'm assuming that if anything violates forum/site rules, it overrides TWG rules.

I'd think that would be Manti's job, as he's this forums moderator. But in my opinion if a post violates site rules and a moderator/admin happens to see it I suppose it's at their disgression. If it's like flaming or something serious, obviously discipline would be in order and post removal.

Well, if the post is game related, but breaks rules, couldn't you remove/edit the rule breaking part without affecting the content of the post?

In most cases (meaning games I've played) the offender is banned and/or the game is simply started over. I wouldn't personally have any objection to the posts being deleted, as long as disciplinary action was taken after the game.

If something like this happens, It more than O.K. to delete it or edit it. but you have to give the host notice of what you edited and why later on.

Blatently obvious things lilke pornography and whatnaught are obvious exceptions.

I have a problem with 7b. Mystery PM's have always been legal i believe, so therefore rule 7b should be scrapped.

Matt, I'm not sure exactly what a mystery PM is, as we haven't ever done one in my tenure. Is it just an Anonymous PM sent out to every player?

It seems to me to just be a simple way of getting a team's message out to a specific player, while eliminating any risk involved in the decision.

EX: the one game a while back where I was the spirit, Meno tried to message me over AIM as an anonymous wolf. I could have gone with it, but it makes the game too easy for the wolves to work under a false guise. If you're going to take a risk trusting someone, there should be both a good side and a down side to it. Making mystery PMs seems to simply eliminate the downside.

Manti, check post #239. I posted an example of a mystery PM there.

Basically what you're saying is correct, it is basically a way for a team to get a message or a proposition across to another team/person, without the risk of giving their identity away.

However, if it's used correctly, it can be used to great effect by both sides. It's particularly effective in games such as the jTWG going on now, where there is almost 3 teams, if you like. The wolves can use a mystery PM to attempt to gain the trust of one of the neutral roles.

If you want to look at it in more detail, read through TWG 30. This was the game i think they were used in the most.

It seems like a perfectly fine thing to do to me. Like fake logs, if the people are too stupid to fall for a trap then they deserve to. If they're used to make the game better, that's freaking awesome. I agree with Matt.

Also, another question. (if the rule was changed and I missed it just ignore this) when using fake logs, what're the limits?

You know, the more I think about it, the less keen I am to support outright faked logs.

I think two people should be able to agree to generate a fake log of the two of them (Wolves do this to great effect) but the sheer lack of credulity this game sees makes it problematic for me. I mean, so someone posts a fake log where someone seems to accidentally out themselves as a wolf, and that person says "You lie and invented that completely" what seems to me to be inevitable is that person gets lynched as a wolf.

It just seems too prone to abuse, since protesting that you never said those things will just make you look more like a wolf to everybody, I can't see there being anything but rampant log faking.

Confusing people and lying like that are the very soul of this game. Nobody uses fake logs, but it's still a cool idea. But one thing that can be said is that if someone is really too stupid to fall for a fake log then they don't deserve to even play this game, lol.

I tried to pull off a fake log once. It's a lot harder to pull off than people actually think.

I used a fake account once. No luck. I haven't done it since then and probably wouldn't again. But it'd be cool to have one used on you. It'd make the game really exciting.
