TOP Players / Tier Requirements Thread - Updated 7/8/09 - Page 169

I decided to try looking at the average number of points required to get to each tier. Assuming that a 3/x is as hard to get after the update as before (which is pretty much true since the reqs for the songs that were there before haven't been changed), this should give a pretty reasonable objective way of looking at the difficulty of achieving a certain tier. Of course, there are many songs where you can't get more than 4 or 5 or 6 points, so this wouldn't be as accurate for the higher levels, but it would probably give a good idea of what the old T4 and T3 (and maybe T2) would correspond to in the new system.

In the old TP list we had 100 songs, so to get to the bottom three tiers you'd need an average of (respectively) 2.7, 3.5, and 4.5 points. Right now we have 120 songs. If we just use the numbers from before they would correspond to 324, 420, and 540 points. I guess what I'm saying is that I think those point values would be about as hard to get to as the old tiers. So if someone can make it to 420 points (T4?) in the new system, they're probably, on average, about as good as someone who could make it to 350 points (T3) in the old system.

the 'all 3/xs are equally hard to get' isn't really a fair comparison to make, because you also have to consider that you can only get as many points on a song as an AAA gives. if it went up to 9/x on all songs, for instance, and all 9/xs were equally hard, you'd need to implement some kind of marvelous timing. when there are more maximum points to make you can get higher tier points total if you're even remotely good at FMOs and FGOs.

MAX Points = 918 pts
Tier 0 - 880 pts or above
Tier 1 - 770 pts or above
Tier 2 - 660 pts or above

Right, that's why it's only at a reasonable comparison for the lower tiers. To get 6.5 points per song in the old system was extremely difficult because so many songs only had 5 or 6 maximum points (so you needed almost all available points), whereas in the new system 6.5 points per song is a lot easier for a good player since so many more songs have 8 or 9 available points. But if you are aiming for 2.7 or 3.5 (or whatever) points per song, the fact that some songs only go up to 5/5 isn't going to have much effect.

FC a FGO is a lot harder than AAA a VC in my opinion, and still doesnt give the same amount of tp.
I wont complain so much about the tiers req, but I still think about half the people who were T4 wont make it again before several months.

If Leonid prob wasnt lazy to AAA all the songs, he could prob be a low T1 near T0.

That's up to tass or LD because they have to run the script that gathers everyone's TPs.

Very even distribution of points, and the standards aren't too terribly low either.

I like this, harder on some of them but still an even distribution.

Sweet, you guys used my point system.

I think the scorins is actually decently lenient near the bottom, and then it gets tougher as you move up in tiers.
