I don't think they killed it, they made it more "accessible" and there are still thousands, probably tens of thousands, of people who play it for progression raiding or competitive pvp. if you think catering to casual players whilst still making the cutting edge raids super difficult "killed the game," then that's just like, your opinion man |

Re: World of Warcraft
you played wow hardcore religiously from vanilla to wotlk and then they changed things and now you don't play anymore
there are people who played religiously from vanilla to now there are people who never played vanilla and are hardcore raiders now I guess another thing to add would be roleplaying, even though that's a very small subset of players there are still massive amounts of people on moon guard, emerald dream, argent dawn, and wrymrest accord who are casual/hardcore roleplayers if a game is dead for you then why bother trying to breath life back into it? go play on whatever server izzy plays on |

Re: World of Warcraft
It was at this point that Blizzard mysteriously decided to stop reporting subscriber numbers; who could possibly guess why? I wonder if all this renewed interest in Legion is going to have the same effect as WoD: massive spike of people regaining interest, coming back, realizing it isn't the same game, and leaving again. Note I'm not saying WoW has become a bad game, but it is definitely VERY different than it used to be.

Appealing to casuals is cool, but to me I quit because its just not the same game anymore. People have like 100k gold, its weird, I remember back in vanilla in like 05, my irl friend bought 100 gold and we thought he was rich af, we made a pimpin guild and we thought we were so cool, he bought a bunch of garbage level 16 blues like searing blade l0l Nowadays you create an account, get insta invited to a guild with like 3000 members. I literally joined a guild just so i could have the perks and disabled guild chat. Games just weird to me now, it's too different. EDIT: Also, I did try it again, I bought mists of pandaria for like 4.99 when it was on sale and it came with a month. My favorite part of the leveling experience was levels 40-52 - someone gave me 5000 gold randomly and I bought all the xp scaling armor so I had like 20% bonus XP. What we would do is, queue up for random dungeon finder, and it would spawn you every single time in the same dungeon, was like blackrock depths or something. You'd use the mole teleporter at the spawn, teleport to the end, jump down a ledge and kill the last boss, get like 15k RDF bonus xp (took like 3 mins per run), then just re queue... I think it legit took me like 40 minutes to hit 52. I suppose that was pretty fun. EDIT2: Lol man I could post a 50 page essay on things that were better in old WoW. I played classic private servers WOTLK, BC, Vanilla etc basically most of the time Cata was out and MoP was out - shoutout to Burning WoW (RIP), Magic WoW (RIP - top 5 mages on server in arena), Nolstarious WoW. I also read roleplaying, roleplaying was so much better back in the day lol, nowadays its dumb. Back in the day on RP servers we would take over towers and castles n shit in random zones, and have huge battles horde vs alliance, people RP'd all over the map. Am I wrong when I say people just sit in goldshire or redridge or w/e nowadays on RP servers? Last edited by Dinglesberry; 07-8-2016 at 05:05 PM.. |

Re: World of Warcraft
it's the nostalgia effect
i honestly don't care too much, i enjoy my time spent playing nowadays and with a new xpac that's making massive changes to classes i'm excited to main tank stuff for this small guild I'm in Quote:
spontaneous quest RP still happens quite a bit in my experience, I'll be questing in some area and I'd just pop IC at a quest hub and get something like "you're headed that way as well? shall we band together for the time being?" but I've always been a fan of roleplay so I've seeked out guilds that actually do large events like this. honestly I'd say I've done more guild applications for hardcore roleplaying guilds than I have for hardcore pve guilds lmao |

Re: World of Warcraft
I agree that some changes are maybe not for the best but some things I love. Probably the single thing that killed it the most for me was cross realm LFG. The thing with that is that there's zero accountability for anyone so you can just do whatever the fuck you want without consequence. I quit after first season of BC and I missed all of WotLK but came back in cata to find a shitfest of ninjas in LFR saying they'll trade the item they just ninjad for something they need. I didn't even extend my subscription for cata after the first month and came back again late pandaria.
One other thing I miss is the sense of danger. You used to be able to pull only one mob in vanilla (maybe two if you knew what you were doing) and you'd get wrecked if you bumped into something else during the fight (freaking murlocs man). Now you can just zerg through everything up until raiding, which I guess makes sense from an accessibility pov but it does take away the experience imo. Also, wardrobe makes me regret not running old naxx even more during vanilla/BC. Corrupted Ashbringer or Misplaced Servo Arm Quote:
You can easily buy a heroic archi carry or two if you got one of those shirts. If you plan on selling the shirts, be sure to unequip them before legion hits cause if you have them equipped during the update, they'll automatically be bound to you.

Re: World of Warcraft
LOL I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT HOW EVERYTHING IS CROSS REALM NOW.. Perhaps its cause theres not enough new players cause they streamlined the hell out of the leveling system for god knows why.
Thanks for reminding me haha.. Remember being able to see hundreds of people leveling in a zone, ON YOUR SERVER? Good times WoW, good times |

I don't want to be an asshole but it's kinda crazy that you don't understand why blizzard would streamline the leveling system back when you were playing, you had level 80 max. come august, we'll be at 110 not streamlining the leveling process would be a huge turn off for new players lol |

Re: World of Warcraft
pre-patch hits tuesday and the class overhaul hits with it so I'm going to push as hard as I can to hit 100 by the end of the weekend. if I end up working too much though I'll probably get a boost.

Re: World of Warcraft
I've been playing on a vanilla private server lately. Made a warrior, biggest mistake cuz leveling is boring af, but it's so worth it at 60. Give Kronos a try if you've been thinking about getting back into WoW, but don't wanna give money to see if you'd like it. You really end up appreciating how much faster it is to level in retail.

Screw KRONOS... Honestly, screw private servers. I've had great times on em, but obviously they don't last forever.. Nostalrius shutdown, they all come and they all go.. Kronos gonna be no different, unfortunately. Last edited by Dinglesberry; 07-14-2016 at 09:11 AM.. |

Re: World of Warcraft
Any word on if the new "pre-patch" will also cut down the experience required to get from 90-100? I believe they did something like that for Cata and MOP (That cata 84-85 was brutal for Twilight Highlands)
Also, is it true the Demon Hunter becomes accessible? EDIT: I looked up the patch notes, and see the Demon Hunter will be accessible, AND that it will have a Tank specialization????? Really? Last edited by krunkykai22; 07-14-2016 at 11:02 AM.. |

Re: World of Warcraft
dh dps is supposedly pretty badass, can't find any info on where they rank against other classes. but from the fury warrior vids I've been watching, I have no need to ever play dh because fury dps in legion is nuts.
the tank spec is actually awful. it was an afterthought and it doesn't seem like many people enjoy playing it |

Re: World of Warcraft
So I see they are leather wearers, so basically the same as Druid Tanking then. Except druid tanks are beast lol
I'm curious to see how the tank spec works because my main role is tanking. We'll see. I've heard IMMENSE hype over the damage they do though.... Still pretty upset that they start out at level 98 and you have a starting area like the Death Knight... Would have loved leveling them up from 1-100. |

Re: World of Warcraft
seems like pally tanking is going to be still be complete garbage in legion.
prot warrior has a few changes that seem iffy to me, supposedly the rage you can generate passively is linked to how much damage you take/how much health you have. I think this should be an alright system but I'll have to tank some stuff on tuesday night with my guild to get a feel for it. I just looked up a vid about dh tanking and it seems to be way better than the last time I checked. still doubt that I'll ever play it though. and honestly the thought of playing a demon hunter makes me feel like I'm encroaching on memelord territory. ebin demn hunteres !! dk is still dk lol and guardian druid is apparently really sick but it's a druid and I won't ever play one again. it's likely that I'm gonna be maining a warrior throughout legion |

Re: World of Warcraft
I've always had a soft spot for Pally/DK Tanking. Wrath of Lich King was absolute to have a Pally Tank and ever since then I rocked it out. Until WoD that is because it fell off HARD.
I leveled my warrior to 100 for Legion so I'll be sure to indefinitely utilize him since from what I've read around is that Warriors are going to be 2nd best behind Druids in the form of tanking. Apparently, the order from "best" tank to worse is going to be: Druid -> Warrior -> Demon Hunter -> Death Knight -> Paladin That's such a god damn shame. But, i DEFINITELY agree with DH's being memelord terriroty holy shit EDIT: I'll be watching that video tonight once i'm finished up streaming/playing my challenge game, thanks for the link! EDIT2: I didn't include monks merely because there is a lot of talk over them recently. Last edited by krunkykai22; 07-14-2016 at 01:40 PM.. |

I have a bank alt FULL of just shirts. Mostly the Horde-only shirts because I was Alliance. I bought them because I thought it was funny, and I tried to control the cosmetic items market of the AH on my server (and I did a damn good job of it, to the point where literally anyone who wanted Sulfuras had to go through me to get the hammer, etc.) It's hilarious to think my bank alt is sitting on many millions of gold now because of my shirt collecting I might have to log in just to see if I can turn my shirts into some real world $$$ once the update hits EDIT- wow apparently the character starting shirts got removed thats lame Okay so I guess my shirt collection is a lot less than it used to be. Oh well, still have some rare ones like the Sleeveless T-Shirt but RIP EDIT 2- or were they made no longer available but not removed in which case I am sitting on a lot of like, Undead starting character Thug Shirts that nobody can get since Cataclysm lmao
