ye or you acquire it during your life
and either way you shouldn't be asked/forced to "snap out of it"
idk how/why a paraphilia would be looked down upon, when the person who has one doesn't act upon it in any way that harms anyone elseComment

Well there are strong biological reasons for why this is so...our survival depends on dudes finding chicks hot and vice versa lolComment

What if I told you that evolution has no reason or purpose? It just does what it does without any agenda (as if a process can have any agenda at all). It just happens to be that the species that copulate survives not because of a reason, but because of circumstances in this universe.Last edited by Nullifidian; 12-4-2013, 04:06 PM.

And what if through evolution we ended up with homosexuals to counter overpopulation in certain species?
What if through evolution people ended up with varying sexual attraction to different looking females to better span the scope of possible appearances.Comment

Re: My older step-cousin just got sentenced
Evolution is undirected.
Also this is veering close to naturalistic fallacy/appeal to nature. All sorts of stuff evolves that has little to do with survival (and plenty of natural things will kill you just the same, notwithstanding). Just because something has a particular perceived "purpose" doesn't make it any more right/wrong than anything else. That's only something we can judge on its own merits.
The point is that many people are born with a preference they have no control over, much like anyone else with a natural inclination towards a particular sex, gender, race, body type, personality, etc.
It just happens to be that pedophiles are attracted to something that is socially unacceptable and very easily abused/exploited. Most pedophiles, though, are not child molesters, and vice-versa. The words get used interchangeably even though they are different things.Last edited by Reincarnate; 12-4-2013, 05:08 PM.Comment
