Re: Misc. progress thread
I'm not saying stacking masteron or trenbolone with standard-dose amphetamines is advisable for fat loss, but I am saying going from 205lb to 175lb in 8 weeks with minor loss to your lifts or muscle mass is awesome.

Re: Misc. progress thread
first actual check up I've had in years with a primary care doctor today
I weigh 210 lbs there's history of diabetes on my mom's side of the family although fortunately, it seems like I got a lot of the genes from my dad's side of the family. but I haven't really thought about the idea of diabetes until I saw my weight and then proceeded to say something like "yeah my mom toes the lie of diabetes by working out" kind of a slap in the face, really |

Hit a new bench PR about 2 months into my bulk. 230lbs for 9 @ 153lbs.

Re: Misc. progress thread
It's a good thing I started cutting. Otherwise, both Arch0wl and Rubix would be lighter than me. I started at 184lbs on July 15th and am currently at 173lbs. So far, no lifts have suffered more than ~5lbs.

Re: Misc. progress thread
I don't deadlift right now, too much lower back strain, been having problems there for a little while now.
Guess there's no reason to be alive. RIP

Re: Misc. progress thread
Forgot to post this but I recently benched 250lbs for 7 @ RPE 9.5, currently weighing 160lbs.
Big PR. Hoping to bench 3 plates for 1 by the end of 2016 Separate note, back is getting worse, went to doctor about it and she thinks it may be a disc hitting a nerve. Being sent for an MRI. Hopefully it's something I can fix so I can compete in the future.

Re: Misc. progress thread
Damn dude, sorry to hear about your back.
My back started giving me problems while squatting a few weeks ago. Felt like disk compression. Cause was probably related to ...from what I've determined, physiological buttwink that I can't really fix when hitting depth. I spent over 2 months improving my flexibility thinking it was due to the typical "tight hamstring" crap I always hear. I improved my flexibility dramatically. My mobility was through the roof (can almost do a full splits). Buttwink completely unchanged though. Made the executive decision 3 weeks ago that my back is far too important to be playing with, so I am completely done with squatting and traditional deadlifting forever. I think it is for the best. I don't plan on competing and I don't want back problems. It's not worth it to me. I'm doing Barbell lunges now instead of squats and LOVING them. Still doing RDLs and I've added Barbell hip thrusts (which are amazing btw holy shit). Life is good, I don't feel like I'm missing out at all. Bench PR for me today, 245 x 7. Holy shit, trying to catch Chris yet right now I weigh 192 LOL.

Re: Misc. progress thread
Interesting. I injured my back about a month ago from squatting and I also think it's the result of butt wink. I've started working towards increasing hamstring flexibility to solve that issue but your post is not giving me a lot of confidence Reach.
In other news my weight loss has pretty much halted. I'm only down a pound or two since my last post and all powerlifts (except for bench) have gone to hell as a result of the back injury.

Shouka: Do you do high or low bar? (sorry if I've asked this already at some point)
An interesting video (and this also appears consistent with a lot of what I've read lately from other sources): Last edited by Reincarnate; 10-14-2015 at 04:42 PM.. |

Re: Misc. progress thread
The Scottish hip.
Thanks genetics. Yep, I can only say that describes my squatting since day one. I've always buttwinked just before parallel and I've been told so many times that I need to get to parallel and the reason I can't comfortably is because of flexibility. Well, I think that is partially true. Thanks to my new found flexibility I can freestand sit into a ATG squat position very comfortably. I like my increased mobility. But...it did nothing to change my buttwink and it doesn't affect my ability to hit parallel with LOAD on my back at all. The load is really what seems to matter. I can buttwink a squat comfortably until there's about 275 lbs on my back and then it becomes really unbearable on my lower back. Oh well. I'm not competing in powerlifting anyway so, I don't think it matters.

Re: Misc. progress thread
Ever since switching to low bar, I've finally been able to progress without injury / pain. For whatever reason (either flexibility or morphology), when I squat, I lean over a decent amount when loaded. So low bar feels more natural to me -- I just had to work through the initial pains of having the bar lower on the back (which is why I did high bar to begin with -- I could only put the bar in one spot).
Flexibility has also improved to the point where I can place both hands above the bar and keep the shoulders tight -- no flexed wrists, no shoulder pain. Although right now I have a little pain in my right shoulder but this is likely from my shitty OHP form (shoulder impingement -- have to remember to shrug up at the end, blah). |
