Re: Guitar Hero. Awesome.
Just got Smash Hits, and so far it's not bad, however I haven't played it that much... However one thing i noticed right off the bat was that they screwed up the intro of TTFAF by making it all purple notes (I knew they would do this). This makes it so you cannot do the trick where you hold your finger on the green and do the rest with your other hand, because you end up missing all of the green notes...

Me too. I'm getting it when I get bored of RB2 and GH:M.
It looks better, and seems like it plays better than WT and GH:M. Also.. best songs! I don't get to play GH1 or GH:80s so this I'm playing new songs. I think they missed some of the good ones, like Sweet Child O' Mine, but I'm still excited to get it.

it's easier now because you don't have to strum right away, and why wouldn't you be able to hold down green? hammer-ons and pull-offs work the same with the tappable purple notes. heck yes, I would have creamed my pants if Sweet Child O' Mine was on there. also Iron Man, Symphony of Destruction, and 18 and Life. They could have included a lot more songs from GH:80s imo.

Re: Guitar Hero. Awesome.
Bump.
Guitar Hero 5 is great. In quickplay mode you can sort all your songs (including DLC) by difficulty for the instrument of your choice, and it displays the number of stars you have, your score, and the percentage of notes hit. If rockband did this too that would be fantastic, but GH5 fixed everything I didn't like about RB2 and GH4. |

Makes me look forward to RB3, because you just know Harmonix will find some way to top that. Being said, GH5 is not crap. Which is good, considering.

I just wish they could consolidate or something. Harmonix started this thing, it should be their baby alone. But the GH team is putting together more than a few nice software concepts in spite of poor charting in my opinion. If they could just amalgamate all of the decent ideas GH has adapted into RB's gameplay, and have a single universal platform especially for DLC, that would be excellent. And I'm still mad that GH's drum only has 3 pads. Where's mah floor tom??

But, as fun as GH is to some people I would much rather just learn how to play a real guitar. But that is only my opinion. |

Plus drumsticks are impossibly cheap. Head over to your local music shop and pick up a few pairs if you have problems with breaking them. I'd probably recommend learning proper grip techniques first to minimize breaking though. In addition, sticks you get from a music shop will likely be a bit sturdier with a bit more heft: harder to break. Quote:

Sounds like a pretty ****ty glitch that'll probably be fixed with a patch sometime. I never really understood why "Expert+" was needed at all. Expert on its own should best represent exactly as the real drum part is played. Don't even consider difficulty level, just make Expert level the exact duplication of the real thing, then work backwards from there.
