Super Smash Brothers Brawl

Okay, so I finished the tourney. Placed in the top eight out of sixty-three. All items (ALL items, lame...), all characters, no GC controllers. A Kirby won, with a Falco, a Meta Knight/Dedede, and a Snake in the top four.

I'm glad I didn't use Fox. He looks mega different. Falco, on the other hand, looks amazing.

Samus plays pretty similarly, but I had trouble controlling things with the Classic Controller. For some reason, ANY slight angle upward yields up moves rather than over moves. Also, A and B were often confused.

Jiggly played very similar, so I was pretty at home. I used her for the first two rounds and Samus for the last. Have her aerials been nerfed or was I just not connecting well? The controller was killing my game, so I couldn't tell which it was.

Meta Knight looked REALLY good. His special moves were meh, but his standard moves and aerials were ruinous. His dair sweeps so far.

Kirby looks like a great character again (HE HAS A DASH ATTACK!!!), and Dedede, while he won several stages, didn't impress me too much.

Snake was all right. Pit was reallly annoying. Ike was by far the favored character, and while he has some good qualities, he doesn't look like my kind of guy.

So yeah, those are my first impressions. I can't wait to play more.

Congrats on your great finish Guido.

Ike is definitely an easy character to pick up. His moves are pretty basic, and being able to kill a character at 30% is definitely helpful.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Maybe things like basic etiquette don't mean things to some people, but if you ever use comments that say things like, "DANG... U SUCK," it will do nothing but make me quit the brawl. Don't be an ass.

Played Brawl for the first time today. It was as fun as Melee (which is very fun). Things don't seem too different from the two games. I noticed that the Melee levels were a lot smaller (or the characters were bigger).

Metaknight is over powered in my opinion. He is incredibly fast, his sword is has good range, he can fly, and his abilities are overpowered. He is very cheap but I will still probably choose him as my main character.

Marth's attacks got a lot slower (the counter-attack is not anywhere near as fast as it was in Melee). He was my main too

Ike is slow as helllllllll but very powerful. I don't like him much.

There were some other things but those were my main impressions.

Shielding right as a projectile hits you, right? Because I'm could have sworn I achieved that the other night.

Also they seem to have changed aerial catching from Z to A.

I got a chance to play using a Wiimote/Nunchuk setup and it was horrendous. It took a while to get used to and didn't feel normal in the least bit.

Basic Wiimote setup was worse. Walking does not work (every lateral movement is a roll dodge). Jumping is a hassle. Throwing people and items is awkward.

Never used the wiimote and never plan on it. I've heard nothing but bad things about it from all my friends and i can't imagine how you could possible get very good using it. It just seems so awkward. The classic controller has it's advantages over the gamecube imo for the fact that you can customize your controls that can make certain things like aerial attacks easier to execute with easier timing.

He's annoying as hell to fight against. Especially the meta knights i've played from smash boards. It seems that nothing penetrates his sword attacks it's like an invincible flurry of slashes.

Yay I got all 5 Target Smash time trophies.

The last one took me about 3 runs to figure out the perfect run and about 300 to get it right.

ya a good metaknight is very annoying. You need to mindgame him really well. Don't run into his spamming A. Who do you use korny?

Okay so this is weird. I was in the little waiting area while you stay before your online matches start, and I was messing around with Lucas.

I starting doing sort of quick smashes, but it was executing his aerial moves.

How am I doing this? Also, see if it works with other characters.

Edit: Nevermind, its like another A attack. I can only do it with the side A easily now.

It's like you hold the button over just before it would be a quicksmash and you get a different kind of attack.

I decimated my brother and his friend tonight as Pikachu. He was my guy way back in the 64 days, and while I can't compete with him in tourneys because I'm awful at the game, I felt good playing. His final smash blows, though.
