Almost done fixing up Mudkip from what's on your notes glove, stepping a 10-minute Metroid Medley which may take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours since I have to sync the fuck out of since its a mix of both piano & violin, and I'll get started on stepping on Concert Paraphrase on "Dearly Beloved", which is almost 5-minutes long.

btw, this is the Metroid Medley that I'm talking about

responses/questions about Aegis:

Quote:
1) measure 1-12. it is very unclear what is going on here in the parts that doesn't have the stream, it seems a bit random. start with putting singles to the lead sound and then choose what percussion-sounds you are going to add on top of that and follow then consistently. right now it's different all the time and there seems to be a lot of notes missed
2) measure 13-17. i think the missing 16ths are there?
3) measure 17-21 what is going on? the lead melody plays constant 16ths :S
4) measure 25 the patterns should start changing here as it is gay that they do like that and here the melody changes.
5) measure 29-37 the lead sound is playing constant 16ths here, and there are minijacks in the melody so this will be really cool when done properly
6) measure 41 if youre following that up and down melody in the background here i think it's once again playing constant 16ths
7) measure 53 one 16ths too much in the end?
8) measure 55 right before the measure i think there should be another 16th
1) I'm guessing you're confused about measure 7-8? Not sure where else you may be confused (if any others). In any case, that's just acknowledging the different sounds going on in m7-8. A lot of stuff going on, so there's many ways to interpret it. I'll see what we can do.

2) Yeah there are some missing 16ths going on here, but I did that part for variety/structural reasons. There are many other opportunities in the song for long streams, so making everything one big jumpstream would make the chart more bland. I can still add it here though.

3) There's a new synth melody going on here, that's what I'm stepping (along with general 8th notes to layer). I certainly can't ignore this! (plus that, there's a long stream coming up anyways...I doubt I'd want to connect that with more jumpstream to make a giant jumpstream, see my point above about jumpstream blandness)

4) ??? (the patterns are different...? PR's relatively consistent too)

5) Same response as 2) and 3). I can step to all the sounds in this song, but it'd be mostly repetitive jumpstream. But I can do something about this here since it does have minijacks.

6) See above.

7) There is one unnecessary 16th, thanks.

8) ???

main concern for most of your notes is that stepping to everything will make longer jumpstreams which will homogenize the chart IMO

Glove what's your opinion on MIDI sound. I have GuitarPro 6 which I write my own music on so I'm just wondering if stepping my own music would sound annoying because it's MIDI. I can't figure out FL for the life of me so I just stick with what I know. if ANYONE wants me to write a tune for this pack let me know and I'll see what I can do

good file, second half of it is really fun. the first is way too boring though, it just cannot be that easy

Quote:
measure 1-9. one extra notes when the piano plays bass notes
Done

I had it originally stepped but removed it after thinking it wasn't very audible and to avoid overlayering at the beginning.

Quote:
measure 9-17 i think the snare drum should be represented by a single and not a jump. but the bass drum hits on every 4th so if you add that then youre snare drum hits become jumps
Done

Quote:
measure 17-23 bass drum added here left out on the freezes
Done

I had them left out on purpose, but now going from only the snare to both the snare and bass drum in the later half, it feels better this way.

Quote:
measure 32 one vocal i off (its a 16th i think)
Pretty sure it's an 8th like all the other vocals in the section.

Quote:
measure 37-57 i would like to see more of the vocals as jacks i think. but this part is WAY too boring with only one layer, it's good thinking adding the layers later on in the song instead to create a climax but right now this part just needs to be a LOT more eventful.
I only stepped some as jacks because it was the same vocal. I agree that it's kind of lacking and doesn't fit well with the difficulty of the file. I'll find a way to layer it, but I don't want to layer it as I did the ending; I want to save that part for the ending.

This section will be redone.

Quote:
measure 45&53 missing vocals
Done, although they're just barely audible.

Quote:
measure 57-61 just add the melody layer on top?
I left it out to function as a buildup going into the climax. Atm I do think it's bad with the previous only-vocal section being understepped, but I think it'll feel better once I rework the first vocal section.

Quote:
measure 66, it is at least 32nds or faster? but it's fine because it's impossible to make out, any color notes like that to just represent the sound is cool
It's 24ths and very difficult to discern. I originally had them stepped as 32nds with the assumption that they were truly even faster, but after slowing it down and listening over and over they're definitely 24ths, which is also better for the pattern imo.

Quote:
the ending streams are the BOMB
Cool, one of my worries was that it'd be considered overlayered/overstepped/"dumpy". Glad to see you like it.

Just gonna scrap the heavy chart that doesn't have the js ending since I realize the only-vocal section will need to be changed, thus making the ending minefield kinda awkward and also against the goals of the pack.

I might still make an easy chart, possibly index, if the pack will allow it.

Is it OK if I make a file and then everyone can modify whatever it is they hate about it?

So then you'd just add your name to the tagline -- like an academic paper with coauthors, except with nerdy SM myopia instead of nerdy statistical myopia.

I want to submit but I don't care enough to revise the millions of little things people hate.

sure no problem, kommisar is becoming my right hand in this project

also as long as you can justify what it is that you're doing it will most often be fine if i liked the file as a whole, like bmah
