The Vast White Note
|
Re: Hard Song Special Batch - Submission Closed
I actually have a general question to the judges. If I had cut every white note out of the song, would GB have been accepted?

Sorry Reshiram, despite the fact that the first sentence was pointed towards you, the rest of the post wasn't. Didn't want to double post and all that

Re: Hard Song Special Batch - Submission Closed
hmm it will take me a while to determine the final result since I don't have much time right now and I'll be inactive for like a week.

Re: Hard Song Special Batch - Submission Closed
sorry for being late, here's the result of this batch.
[Queue'd] [12M] Scrap Syndrome (TC_Halogen) - m117-m138 32nds can be put for bass drums, which are more audible. .dwi file required. [11H] The Bird's Poisoned Bathwater (Xayphon) [11M] Halcyon (bmah) [11M] Chaos Maid (kommisar) [12H] FREEDOM DiVE (hi19hi19) - HUGE JS WALLS W/O TECHNICAL ISSUES [12M] Husigi Usagi Milk Tei (jimerax) [12L] Pandora (_.Spitfire._) - some jump + burst patterns (like m55) feel a bit awkward to hit [12L] Rain (kommisar) [11M] The Bird's Concrete Nosedive (DossarLX_ODI) - note-syncing can be improved [12M] Betrayal (samurai7694) [12L] Love & Justice (bmah) [12M] Music (For Kirby) (bmah) - felt some instrumental layering methods don't match the music intensity. [12L] Tsugihagi Construction (Ziergdsx18) - end of m52 - change 32nds to 24ths (or I'll just fix it) [12H] do i smile? (_.Spitfire._) [12M] Slashmaid [Instrumental] (DossarLX ODI) - m108- overdone jump/hand usage [12M] Zombie Sunset (leonid) - some minijacks on hi-hats (ex m90-94, m123-127) feel a bit intense [Conditional Queue'd] [11L] Car Sax (who_cares973) - add 2sec silence, need .dwi file. barely an FMO. [12L] Magical Higan Tour 2009 (Ziergdsx18 & kommisar) - fix all of these things: - bursts like m13 - 48ths are faster than the actual rhythms. - bursts like m31 - 24ths should be 32nds [11L] All Y'all Bitches (megamon88) - The only difficulty factors are minijacks, most of those go into hands (for accents I know but I doubt there're enough good musical reasons for those strong accents). Without those minijacks it will be a VC. At least hands after 32nd bursts should be doubles for reducing unnecessary spikes, then it can be queue'd. [11M] Rotary Slicers (Xayphon) - minijacks (m57-58, m73-74 etc) feel a bit too intense for the song (overdone emphasis). - 24ths on m60, m76, m80, m86, m91, m92, etc can be done differently (when backgrounds are clearly 16ths or 32nds). [12M] System Doctor (_.Spitfire._) - m23, m43, m123 an extra jump in jumptrill should be removed. rhythms of m97? [12H] Piano Etude (Demon Fire) (who_cares973) - hyper jacks + layer.. on m45, m60, m88-90, m108 triple/quadruple jack patterns should be avoided as possible if not all. also, .dwi file is required. [Passed primary judgement but not queue'd] [10H] I Love (Orange Things) (ninjaKIWI) - The file seems fine but doesn't meet difficulty requirement, resubmit to regular batch. [12L] Fried Eggs In My Ear (samurai7694) - Interesting song but way too incorrect in terms of rhythms overall, can be fixed and resubmitted. * these difficulties are quite rough and maybe not very accurate. Re: Hard Song Special Batch - Submission Closed
What happened to Head Banger? I thought a 6.5 average counted as passing primary judgment...

Re: Hard Song Special Batch - Submission Closed
Don't feel bad, it was 6.4 after the mean/SD rating adjustment. really close though.
6.5 was almost exactly the median (best 50% of files) line on this batch. |

Re: Hard Song Special Batch - Submission Closed
Sorry but I don't think I'm changing those conditional notes on Higan, that's absurd when not a single judge complained about those spots when judging the file - not to mention I just tried doing that and it ****s up the chart structure.

24th ones may, but fixing 48th ones doesn't break any structures, and making the file better in any sense. Just several measures, easiest suggestion might be making it two 32nds + three 48ths. Last edited by jimerax; 11-18-2011 at 10:58 PM.. |

Re: Hard Song Special Batch - Submission Closed
24ths over 32nds are obviously intentional since it's done nearly every time.
The earlier bursts seem like approximated rhythms that are relatively close and use a fairly simple rhythm for the sake of flow - is it really necessary? (same argument as the judgment subforum - the file could use those fixes but they don't seem -necessary-) |

I just checked my math, it got a 6.5 on the dot according to what was posted (7+6+8+5+6+7=39, divide by 6 judges is 6.5 exactly) What is this mean/SD rating adjustment..?

Re: Hard Song Special Batch - Submission Closed
These are pretty much care/don't care discussion, nothing more.
only like 20% faster, like you say. I really don't see why you refuse to take opinions/fix things, but don't want this issue to take long this time for some reasons. I can just fix earlier ones but if the action is even refused I'll just leave it. |

Re: Hard Song Special Batch - Submission Closed
The 48th's I can understand jx, but I just can't accept placing my chart structure in jeopardy by altering something that covers pretty much 40-50% of the file when it was intentionally meant to be more simplified rather than technical or w/e you might want to call it. That and the mis-rhythms/errors in said spots are barely even noticeable on a normal playtest.
