Re: ARTIST BLANKET PERMISSIONS (Songs You Can Step For FFR)
this is one of the e-mails i sent out.... and all e-mails that i send out look similar to this, with the important information changed to match the specific person i'm sending it to:
Hello Mr. Penders, My name is Michael Pollack and I am contacting you on behalf of the administration of the website www.flashflashrevolution.com . We are a Flash-based game simulation of the arcade game Dance Dance Revolution. Our site featues over 170 songs for people to "dance" to, using their fingers. Most of our songs are in the Dance/Techno genre, but we do currently have 12 classical pieces and are looking to add many more. Some of our classical pieces are: Flight of the Bumblebee by Rimsky-Koraskov, Revolutionary Etude by Chopin, Pagannini's 5th Caprice, Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. We also have 3 pieces already from performers on Classicalarchive: Brahms' 5th and 7th Hungarian Dance and Liszt's Grand Galop Chromatique. Basically, we look for more upbeat classical pieces, and a few of your performances caught my ear. If you would like to try our game, the link is: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/FFR_the_Game.php We are requesting authorization to use your renditions of classical pieces that can be found on Classicalarchives.com. We would also love to use original pieces of yours that would be appropriate for our site. We would not modify your files in any way and would give you complete credit for performing them and/or composing them. They would be played and listened to by our users, who currently number over 1,000,000. As our site is free to our users, we would be unable to provide any form of compensation for allowing us to use your work. You would be helping almost 1 million teenagers to further appreciate Classical Music. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me back. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Michael Pollack

Re: ARTIST BLANKET PERMISSIONS (Songs You Can Step For FFR)
I asked you back in the SMO forums about a year ago, you actually did give me permission to use your music. I might still have the PM in my inbox too.
EDIT: The PM was on my Gamepro17616 account, which I can't access anymore, damn. I do remember you saying that we could use your music though. I think I can remember talking about it in one of the Keyboard Collaboration threads, and I had PM'd you to further discuss it. Last edited by Rebirth0; 03-19-2007 at 10:50 PM.. |

Re: ARTIST BLANKET PERMISSIONS (Songs You Can Step For FFR)
Video Out A & That Is Fair are already in the game.... is that ok? also Nice Nice Noise is slated for release into the game in about 2 months.
Will you be around the FFR forums enough for people to PM you asking permission to step your stuff? It would be a lot easier if perhaps you had some specific songs in mind that you either would or would not like stepped? I know DM Ashura has a few specifically he doesn't want stepped, and other than that, he's fine with anything. Please keep us informed... as without the music producers, there is no FFR.

Re: ARTIST BLANKET PERMISSIONS (Songs You Can Step For FFR)
I posted this a long time ago in the song permission forum, but nothing ever came of it.
http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01300/ Braincells has given permission to FFR to use his Super C remix, 'Against The Rest', which has already been featured as a Stepmania download from the official site. Ditto for the Lifeforce remix "Tactile Freefall". http://www.ocremix.org/game/lifeforce/ This one would work best with a bit trimmed from the beginning to clear up the empty ambient space. Basically, most of the songs from OCRemix are usable. You just have to ask the artist real nice like. I also got permission for a Ducktales NES remix, but it's no longer on OCRemix. I'll upload it later. |

Got permission from DJ Shockaleven: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...?bandID=543972
A lot of his songs are remixes for video games and such, but he also has some really nice original stuff on there. Email him first please.

Word. We could use more... can't get enough arcade remixes, if you ask me, and there's no lack of music. |

Re: ARTIST BLANKET PERMISSIONS (Songs You Can Step For FFR)
Getting permission from VSnares right now. Mr. Funk said that he'd gladly give permission since money isn't made. He also asked about the site ads. I told him that it's keeps the servers running, like how myspace (that's how I'm speaking to him) has ads everywhere to keep it up and running for free.
Also, Tasselfoot, do you have a myspace? PM it to me if you have you. |

Venetian Snares? Damn... that might give me 2 - 3 more songs to step, but I'm not too happy about it.

NNN is completely OK, it's pretty old and I'm not satisfied with it's quality anymore. The thing I really don't like about this story is that many players know that Vospi is in the FFR, but Vospi himself is sleeping calmly. As far as I'm kinda responsible for quality of any product or project that contains my name, I need at least to monitor the way you or anybody else uses my tracks. I hope I wrote not a complete mess in this comment. Thank you for a polite answer and excuse me for bringing this story on public. The easiest way to contact me is to use my mail mentioned in the contacts section of my website. |

Mmm...ZENON said FFR could have blanket permission as well. http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/view.php?id=1189340 That's a lot of songs to choose from, and most of them are pretty cool. Just message me if you're stepping a ZENON song so I can keep tabs.
