Re: ITT We Request Graphics
One thing I notice in a lot of your gfx Dog is that you go really overboard. Try to stick with more simplistic ideas and focus on details like blending and lighting instead of a lot of stuff going on. When you have too much it just turns out busy and it can be hard to look out.
Just some ideas for you and anyone else who's making gfx; -Try to stick to shades of one color as a theme, only using other colors as details and points of contrast -Try to have some contast. It is always good to have some brighter areas and some lighter areas. You can accomplish this through lighting effects and various layer styles. The dodge styles, burn styles, and light styles caqn be your best friend for adding contrast, depth, and the illusion of light. -In general try to have less things going on. Instead of layering different images or effects onto each other, try and play around with the effects on one layer. Often it is a good idea to start with on image (stock photo, c4d), duplicate the layer, and then work with different blending styles and effects on the different layers. Also, too many texture effects are bad. If you are going to use one, you should probably just stick to one. Utilizing multiple effects such as blur, distortion, artistic, and lighting effects can add special touches. -You can say a lot more through the little details sometimes then through something that stands out. A brief use of one color, shade, or effect can have a drastic effect on the entire image. Try to draw attention to details. -Simple is usually good. Grundge and more chaotic types of gfx do have their place, but they should be used sparingly. If you want to go with a grundge type gfx for example, try and emphasize the grundge properties on one or a few portions of the images as opposed to the entire image. -If you're going to use multiple images, make sure they are blended well. This does not mean that images need to fade into each other or into the background. However, making sure that things look like they are placed well and a part of the gfx instead of something else layered on top of gfx is important. Blurring, outlines, and feathering, smudging, and lighting effects can all help to make something blend into the final image as a whole. -One last thing- don't overuse something. Sure there are always those things about our gfx that we end up loving, but by placing it into the gfx multiple times it can ruin effect. For example, if you're making a bg for S.O.S (the tiger took my family) it might be a good idea to include a tiger in the gfx. Placing 2 tigers in the gfx may even be called for. However, even placing 2 tigers in the gfx can be distracting. Instead of thinking about tigers in general, think about that one tiger. What can you do to make him (or her, lets not be sexists) stand out in the gfx and really grab attention. How can you transform the tiger as well as the items surrounding it compliment each other without competing for attention? All gfx should have one focus of attention (usually either the text itself or an object/image surrounding the text). Just a few pointers to try. You're stuff is pretty good and creative. It takes a while to get used to making gfx and the important things in them, and in the end you have to learn most of it yourself. But it never does hurt to have some tips. |

Re: ITT We Request Graphics
As I said from the SMO forum. "When threads get stickied no one reads them, so please don't sticky this!" Maybe that's different here? I dunno.

People read it if they want, being stickied wouldn't have much of an effect, other than it not sinking down the page. (still need graphics for Stupid MF - Mindless Self Indulgence)

Triplex, I could make the GFX for that song for you.
Just describe the song for me a bit. Is it upbeat? Slow? Hard? Sad?
