Re: R1 - Actual Song Difficulties V2
It's already being debated, Sprite- and me think it feels like FMO, other people think it feels like VC. It's definitely about that difficulty where a lot of people will argue about it, though.

Re: R1 - Actual Song Difficulties V2
thanks so much for the correction, but yes, that's what I meant, and @ who cares, by trills, I mean the jump trills, sorry it's unclear

Re: R1 - Actual Song Difficulties V2
I'd give PianoCore a 77 a solid low fmo, no way it's vc. Paing that entire song in one run is very very difficult
PS I think it's my new favorite song to play in the game, I love the steps and the song Last edited by awein999; 06-1-2009 at 08:17 PM.. |

Re: R1 - Actual Song Difficulties V2
I dunno, I think it could go either way. The hard part IMO is the 24th trills, mainly the single group that's longer than the others.

Re: R1 - Actual Song Difficulties V2
I will say low FMO because the patterns are tricky and the trills are pretty fast. But low FMO doesn't exist anymore, so it's VC, right?

Re: R1 - Actual Song Difficulties V2
There won't be an agreement on where things should be because people are placing only subjective opinions. The best way to place songs by difficulty is to statistically compare them while accounting for general technique difficulties, speeds, scoring, etc.
I'm gonna play these songs that are considered debatable and I'll give my own thoughts on them too. |

Re: R1 - Actual Song Difficulties V2
Except no one has a general algorithm to rank songs by difficulty and no one has ever proposed an algorithm that can run without subjective input and take all aspects of a chart into account.

Re: R1 - Actual Song Difficulties V2
the hilarious part is if such an algorithm were to be presented everyone would disagree on how accurate it was

Re: R1 - Actual Song Difficulties V2
Well--I'm doing it non-subjectively here as best as I can.
Cryosleep -- While the 32nds and the very short 2 note jack sequences are definitely enough to make it a VD, I think 58 is a bit too far up. To me, this falls somewhere in the 55-57 area. La Campanella -- There isn't much to compare this song to since the FGO line is short, but you got this one right. 91 is perfect for this one. Inside the Fire -- During the beginning of the song, I was like--"Why the hell is this a 9?" But then the solos and the second half came in. Definitely picks up at the end of the song. Comparing to the other 9s, this song peaks at 175 BPM 8th note (or 87.5 16ths, as the chart is) constant jumps, something that isn't out of the ordinary, making the song relatively easy to score on. FC and AAA difficulty are both pretty easy too. I would say that this is one of the easier 9s, a 60 in my point of view. Run Through the Stream of Time -- This song's difficulty spreads all over the place. The ending is extremely difficult for a VC; some ridiculous jump-stream in the end that is faster than most VCs. And to top it all off, there is a massive amount of jumps and even the occasional 32nd burst to really mess you up. This song has a decently easy FC difficulty, because you can mash out the bursts and more than likely hit them, but the AAA difficulty is a bit high because you have to be very consistent. 73/74 sounds about right to me. Bus Rides With People -- I'm glad I did this after Run Through the Stream of Time because I had a feeling they'd be close in difficulty. Just like Streams of Time, the difficulty is spread pretty randomly, but this chart has many more jumps. The jumps are a bit more congested in any given area, and where they are together, a 16th run follows, layered on top of them. Even though this song is 4 BPM slower than Run Through the Stream of Time, it is definitely more technical, it requires better arrow reading skills too. The FC and AAA difficulty are pretty high as well. It's a surprise to me that there hasn't been a lot of debating about this song being an FMO. This is a 75 to me. Ievan Polka -- Jacks are a bit difficult at that speed, but the file really slows itself down. 72 seems ideal to me. And I also played Kanon Kanon to see what all the fuss is about, and you know what--I can see why everyone is complaining about it being an FMO. Speed-wise, yes, it does require a heck of a lot of speed, I totally understand that. But you have to understand, files should also be judged based on an average of their entire difficulty. Take a look at Excite Bike for example, you don't see 16th notes that numerous in any other 2 difficulty song, because Excite Bike is 8 seconds long. Pita is another example--a really short song that is rated a 3, but has patterns that are commonly found in a song way above that level. The fact of the matter is, while Kanon Kanon does require an pretty decent amount of speed to do well, it doesn't last the whole song. The intro is slow, and there are parts where you are only following the melody, which is 3 notes repeating. Balancing everything out, you have the small combined portion of the song that averages out to a mid FMO, with the much larger portion of the entire intro, and beginning parts of the main melody. If you were to assign a number rating to this, I'd put this at a 74/75. |
