Those who are giving Reincarnate/Rubix/Marcus a hard time about his very strong and blunt views on this subject, claiming he is too abrasive and verbally degrading, need to understand the reason behind why he approaches the subject in that way. (I pretty much agree with his viewpoints, so I can personally understand his viewpoint, while also trying to explain the tone without having to choose sides.)

Look at it this way : What if you always knew what the color yellow looked like (I mean, everyone does, with the exception of those who are colorblind, but anyways) and then someone comes along and tells you that it is black, and they truly believe that it is. Imagine the feeling you would feel at that time - something you know to be yellow and someone really believes it is black, and understand your stance on the subject if you two were to argue about it. You would hold your ground and have an aggressive stance, because, after all, you know it's yellow. It's just common sense, and you can't believe that this guy really thinks it's black. You would probably roll your eyes and not think highly of his intelligence.

Sidenote - All I did in that paragraph was break it down into a simpler context that maybe some of you could understand more. I'm not saying it's okay to degrade others, but there is a method to Rubix's madness.

Ah, the things in the bible are really quite stupid sometimes (well, most of the time). Did you know, not only does the bible say to not cut your hair round, it tells you not to shave your beard?

So go to hell any man who doesn't look right with facial hair.

Oh yes, and my friend told me the bible tells you when and how to beat your slaves.

I detect no sarcasm in this sentence.

So my dad dragged me to church today, rofl. The priest said a few things I found quite amusing. First he said that Jesus is the most important thing in the universe, then he went on to say something about the king of England. I had a good laugh that hour.

Mans0n, you're posting the way Dorby would usually post. Dorby is actually for once making half decent posts.

Anyway I completely agree with Reincarnate, he's not bashing religion because of anything CixOClock was mentioning, he's bashing religion cause it's not based off anything remotely plausible. I think a lot of people have a distorted view on what Atheism is. Atheism doesn't come along with any mindsets or anything, it's just the theory of science creating what's on earth. Anything else associated with it is like how black people are associated with stealing things.

I suspect you might gave a distorted view of atheism, here. Atheism is the belief that there are no deities. It doesn't mean you necessarily agree with the scientific consensus or anything like that. As an example, timecube works pretty well.

I guess you're right. I guess Atheist Darwinists which is what I think most people in this thread are referring to would be more correct.

Also for the record I totally understand why religion is alive even in North America. It's pretty hard to fathom what a feat the universe is, and religion often offers hope and other wishful thinking. People are going to want to know how they and everything came to be and when it's more than socially acceptable, almost socially encouraged to believe in something like Christianity it's easy to see why people are Christian. I still respect religion, I went to a Christian school and I've always showed my respect for it, but I still think it's all a bunch of bs.

Well according to your Bible, 'God' killed off the entire ****ing world with a hugeass flood, so I guess that one big genocide (killing everyone but Noah's people) was a good judgment on behalf of your 'God' huh?

How about the Spaniards and their conquest in the name of 'Christ'?

Atheism isn't responsible for those though. They didn't go "GOD DOESN'T EXIST? LETS CREATE COMMUNISM AND RUN IT LIKE TRASH KILLING HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS". People do however go "God told me to kill all of you so here we go".

Not even. God himself flooded the entire world because he was gay for Noah.
