Re: Started building a retro game collection...
Man, that is great. Did it cost you $100 like I see on eBay? Dang, I'd never pay that much for a repro...

Re: Started building a retro game collection...
Wow, I may be the luckiest guy in the world. Two days ago, I went to Microplay just to look if they had good retro games and all, and I ended up buying this:
(click to zoom) Guys, do you realize? This is a system you had to preorder in advance through major retailers since they's ship it instead of selling it in the actual store. I just happened to stumble upon a brand new box sitting in the store TWO WHOLE WEEKS after it got released, and that, by total accident. It's an actual remake of the Neo-Geo console, with a 1:1 replica of the joystick. Better yet, a bonus; the actual thing you buy is the portable station in the middle which you can take anywhere with you, outputs HDMI signal and overall has an awesome feel to it. The "console" is what you use to charge the handheld, though, get this, when the portable device is plugged in the console, you can you the console on your TV with the joystick. The console has 20+1 games pre-saved (the +1 is Ninja Masters that comes on an SD card to show they'll be selling single SD cards in the future), though hackers are quickly figuring out a way to hack the SD slot of the portable in order to play any Neo Geo game. Sells for $200, now is around $250-$300 on ebay now. PS: if you actually have one and/or want to follow the hackers' progress, head on here: http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showth...cking-and-Mods Last edited by MarioNintendo; 12-22-2012 at 10:43 AM.. |

Dang, nice find. Really nice. I'm actually extremely jealous.
Neo Geo's are extremely hard to come by it feels like, and even more hard with something like THAT. I bet the system would've done so much better if it weren't for the WTF PRICE. |

Re: Started building a retro game collection...
Well, mind you, this is not an actual Neo Geo as I've said (wanted to make sure you got that part right :P), but the fact it's made in part by SNK themselves is just the cherry on top. I'm loving my experience with it so far!!

Bumpity bumpadoo.
Have you ever heard of Sven/Hateandhatred? This guy is awesome. Enough said. He came in front of my house at 6AM on his way to Anime North to drop this load of games. I didn't ask for anything, the guy makes me believe in Santa Claus. I'll try to update this thread at the same time, I got quite a frlew new games since last time. But seriously, and hot damn, thank you Sven. I just cannot believe that people can be this generous. I still have trouble believing it haha. <3 |

By the way, about the Recca repro, this game was never released in the US and costs a small fortune to get the famicom version (between $700 and $1000). I reverted back to a user named battlesmurf, if you're ever interested, his work is really great! He even sent a replacement cartridge for free in case the sticker got worn out...! edit: just finished recca with a cheat code. Guys, try it. It is insane. Your face will probably melt. Re: Started building a retro game collection...
DUDE instead of saying "Lol Sven is Santa" you can give them the real fucking reason why I mail/deliver you games. xD

Re: Started building a retro game collection...
Yeah, you're right. I should've remembered. You do that to get some sort of "DUDE... WHAT?" Buy giving stuff at seemingly random occasions. Like sending maple syrup to Leonid, for example. Nice philosophy still generous as all hell the way I see it haha

Re: Started building a retro game collection...
Not sure if these are a bit too on the esoteric side, but you should try aiming for "Crystalis", "Shatterhand", and "Street Fighter: 2010". All are very solid games. While yes, Street Fighter: 2010 may have a bad rep for carrying the "Street Fighter" name, playing it as it should be played - not treating it as part of the Street Fighter franchise - some people can and do enjoy it. Goodness knows I still do today.

I wonder if he ever got that fucking syrup, I should send more. And imagine his confusion.
