Re: Completely Revised Official Tier Point System
The only reason I didn't end up submitting one is because I fail to remember almost any of the charts for 7s and 8s and figured this would be a job better suited for players that are much more familiar with those files :/
I finished 25 VCs, starting struggling with picking 9s, and then just scrapped the whole thing lmao |

Re: Completely Revised Official Tier Point System
It was rough picking the 9's and 10's for me... I felt like the number of 10's definitely should've been 30 max. Was really hard just settling on 25 :/
7's and 8's were easy. Just picked a variety of files that I remember tested me in different ways, and hope that other players that are just starting out can use those picks as a guide for what kind of files to practice on. World of Dreams was an lol must in my list. I remember struggling with the jumps in that file so bad >_< |

Re: Completely Revised Official Tier Point System
World of Dreams was also a must 7 for me, back in the day I found it quite challenging. Also, I thought for VC's 30 should've been the cap as well, there were SO many to pick from. I was just confused because I felt it unfair to pick anything below a 73 in difficulty, because then I wouldn't have room for all the 73+ songs, and I felt it was wrong to give tier points for accomplishments on an easier song but not a harder one (ex. if for some reason we have Carousel Paradise on the list and not ASCII artcore, you AAA Paradise and ger 4 points but AAA Artcore, which is significantly harder and you get nothing, I felt that would be wrong so I tried to do as many high songs as I can yet still keep it balanced, which became extremely difficult)

I think the idea of making TP's available to the casual player is a terrific idea and breaks away from the ultra elitism that TP's had. But to go through each difficulty and select the hardest files isn't a good way to do it. Especially now that TP's are available from difficulty 7-12. This system seems to encourage a gradual progression kind of method, where a player can track their skill progression throughout their plays. However, jumping immediately from the hardest 7's giving TP, to the hardest 8's, then 9's, 10's, 11's, and finally 12's doesn't track progression smoothly. The TP's become available essentially when you've mastered each difficulty bracket, and by that time you probably already know you're that good. I prefer the flow of easier 7's to the most difficult 7's, easiest 10's to the most difficult 10's, etc. It rewards you for at the very least making attempts. But to just grant TP's to songs like Feldschlact, Bus Rides With People, Illumination of the Sky, Slaytronic, K8107, System Failure, and leave out songs like Tambourin Chinois, State of Emergency, dot death, and Wish (For FFR) seems unfair in the broad view of things. I tried my best to present an outline that didn't even include mostly challenging files for each difficulty, but rather an even curve. A gradual skill ladder for players to climb. |

Re: Completely Revised Official Tier Point System
I'm sorry, but... Didn't he just make that point? That he wanted to keep it balanced and include lower level songs as well as higher ones to have a spread of sorts?
And you disagree with that on the grounds of the same argument? Wat? o.o

Basically, we're going to try to include a reasonable progression of charts all the way from 7s through FMOs, at which point almost all charts will be included. The difficulty barriers aren't really important here - we just wanted to have a roughly even amount in each difficulty to make sure that we keep a good progression of difficulties.
