Need some help sourcing some tunes for a project
I'm currently in the process of designing a rhythm game engine as an exploration of the technical and conceptual design aspects of precision games, as well as the applicability of rhythm games in learning to play instruments and more generally in psychomotor development.
The only thing I don't have readily available is music. Thus, I could use some help finding some. There's two fine points: 1. A chart and/or music won't cut it; I need, more importantly than the former two, a full score. The exception for this is songs that can easily have a score reconstructed from audio analysis, which would likely only apply to simple 1 instrument/synth runs. 2. The song should sound decent enough played on a simple synth. I have to program the synth myself, and I'm nowhere close to an expert in audio design, so simple waves, and a few basic filters, and maybe some simple instrument mimicry is all we'll get. Those two points considered, I'll take anything I can get: any music from FFR or otherwise that's licensed freely, nominations for classical or other public domain pieces, or even original compositions. If you'd like to or already have made charts for the piece, or would like to transcribe a score for it, I'd appreciate that as well, although that's a much easier task to handle myself once I have a playlist. Thanks!

There's a few lists that have the most popular/well known public domain songs that you can always reference.
As far as sheet music for it goes, Most everything on that list has sheet music out somewhere and can probably be found through google. Here's the sheet music to Captain Jinks and the Horse Marines. If that exists and can be found in the 5 seconds it took me to find it, I'm pretty sure anything else can. If you want recommendations for specific songs of that list to save time in searching, I can probably make a favorites list of mine that you can peruse later tonight or tomorrow. I know right off the bat Alexander's Ragtime Band and The Polovtsian Dances are criminally underused. Oh, and **ck Stephen C Foster. That is all. |
