· Pre-register for the con (registrations open in January). After around March or April, the con jacks up the entry price by about $10–15. If you can get in on somebody who's doing a group registration, which consists of 15+ people minimum, passes will usually go for around $40, almost $20 cheaper compared to normal entry price. My group of peeps group register pretty much every year, and I'm probably doing it again. If I have open slots, I will give a shoutout. · I've stated before that if you're not necessarily checking out the rest of the con itself (convention centre, dealer's room, panels/workshops, rave/dance, etc.), then you don't really need a pass if you're going to be hanging around the rhythm game room or just outside pretty much all the time. It's somewhat ballsy if you don't like the idea of gaining "free entry", but I'm being completely honest because the guys that run the rhythm game room (and some of the other gaming rooms) don't really care. · Split with multiple people on a hotel room. The standard limit on hotel rooms is 4 people max, but as long as the hotel staff don't find out, you can cram pretty much double the amount of people (re: when you're required to write down the names of people staying in your room, only write down 4 people max). Hotel staff that very rarely loiter around the elevator only check to see whether or not you actually have a convention badge, but because of the large volume of people going in and out, you can easily get right by. For the record, the previous years, I've personally had 8–9 people crammed into a room because people needed a place to stay and have gotten away with it, rofl. · If you get munchies and thirsty, bring your own snacks and drinks—everything sold at venues in the convention centre itself is horribly overpriced. Your choices in terms of eating out are pretty limited to what's around the area itself, unless you have a means of transportation. Restaurants in the area: Harvey's, Tim Hortons, Montana's, Sushi, Kelsey's, Tucker's Marketplace, Swiss Chalet, Boston Pizza, and more I'm missing. · Because you're flying, it's good to note that when you arrive at the Toronto Pearson Airport, there is actually a free shuttle bus that will take you straight to the con area (it's usually a white bus with a sign posted somewhere on the window). idk that's pretty much all I can say for the time being.

http://www.animenorth.com/live/index...d=94&Itemid=66 Whether you choose one of those hotels or opt for one not on that list, be sure to ask if they have a special rate for Anime North 2015. That page also lists promo codes for each hotel. Group registration for AN does result in a cheaper rate. I didn't find the resulting discount to be worth the extra planning required last year, but the option is there. edit: ninja'd by a better post I feel useless now Last edited by dAnceguy117; 10-7-2014 at 12:30 PM.. |

If you're drinking with xthai, that rave alone will be worth the entry price imo.

Re: Anime north 2015 hype thread
I thought you were with my group.
So far, Isaac, Stian and Bobby have a good chance of going next year (again, congrats stian on winning first place for the SM tourney in Norway and good luck selling the prize for airplane ticket money so that you can crash at my place again :} ). I am most likely going again. Now, if I can just finally be in Toronto without a flu or virus, that would be splendid...

Re: Anime north 2015 hype thread
If you definitely plan on going, then yeah you have a guaranteed spot with us! Possibly Holiday Inn again for us even though it's a bit of a walk. I tried Marriott but apparently they give you just 4 days to pay the full amount after booking a room and it seems the other hotels are packed unless I keep checking.

Re: Anime north 2015 hype thread
Also unlike this year I'm committing most of my time to chill with FFR peeps in 2015. This year was introducing my local friends to the venue and sticking with them to give them the AN experience, and as a result we didn't party nearly as hard as I would've wanted.
I'm chillin with the OG krew next year.

Really cool of you to show them around, though!
2.5 months until the year 2015. That means AN is soon, right? ...Right? Last edited by dAnceguy117; 11-25-2014 at 02:41 PM.. Reason: holy hell egregious arithmetic error |

Re: Anime north 2015 hype thread
I might be out of town from mid May until after AN, but if I'm not I should be able to show up for real this year.
