Edit: And TC_Halogen, he was suggesting that they only counted in your public levelranks once you unlock them. Although that has the obviously bad drawback in that you wouldn't want to unlock some hard ones because they would mess up your level ranks.

YES. The main reason why I would be for moving RATO and DP to token ranks is because pretty much every score on it is horribly mashed, and has absolutely 0 representation of how good people actually are at it. If raw scoring actually took over, the scores could actually show how well higher tier players can score on RATO / DP, and the scores would be worth something. Though that is a completely different discussion I'm sure.

Since raw scoring isn't coming anytime soon (let's not pretend it will) I'm all for moving them to tokens.

It isn't the fact that these two songs are public necessarily, but more so that you have to FC the songs to even have a chance to get a decent ranking on them. there are way too many crazy scores on these songs that have terrible ranks with amazing PA just because of missing, mostly due to requiring some sort of vibrating skill at that

Exactly...embrace the tough files. How boring will it be to see a bunch of players with avg rank 1.000 in 2015 now that we remove challenging files from the public levels? We all know combo scoring isn't going to last forever so man up and switch to raw now and start ramping up the higher difficulty limits.

If songs were ranked by raw scoring, and full comboing, then RATO and DP would be fine, because those who are capable of doing the song without having to mash their face off would be able to avoid sacrificing their PA to get a good run.

ya, I agree with the raw scoring thing

like dynamo kinda pointed out, there need to be exceptional, but playable hard songs that count towards your average rank, so there's still some diversity not only between the top players going on, but also between everybody else

I'm against it, and I don't think DP & RATO should be equated or compared with vROFL because the notes go to nothing in it. There are sections in vROFL that are not humanly possible to do, but every section in DP & RATO can be and has been AAAd.

They're two extremely difficult files.

"They plague my levelranks" doesn't seem like a reason at all.

Velo has said raw scoring will not happen, so Ill take his word for it.

+1 for making them tokens files, with new official tournaments bringing more 90+ files on the scene, there will be plenty of hard files in the future

I'm against them being moved. They were placed where they were to be challenges to top level players. Moving them because they're too hard for the best players to score on is absolutely ridiculous, motivated because some people are whining about how their ranks on those two songs are tanking their avrank. Well, SUCK IT UP.

RATO and DP are relics of a time where ffr's standards were much lower, and just like the legacy files i think something should be done about them.

If this is the argument, then CP should be moved as well.
CP is close to impossible to FC, and I'm sure most of the FCs are DS, overlay, or held.

Regardless, I don't think being exceedingly difficult to combo makes a file bad or a joke. The only joke files that immediately come to mind are vROFL (hence the ROFL) and p4u.
