That actually is pretty funny, and serves to highlight the practical difficulties involved in applying any consequentialist moral theory, albeit in an outlandish and contrived manner. I suppose it could also be read as an indictment against thought experiments.

Heh, much more complicated than the original trolley problem. (Wikipedia) I guess the only winning move... is not to play. And watch the world unfold in chaos. Nice article!

I would choose the right. Choosing right = not killing hearts = heart transplant patients die = kidney transplant patients die since they don't get the kidneys of the heart transplant patients = the kidney transplant patient that would have grown into Hitler dies = no Hitler = more lives saved. Period.

I don't have much to offer in terms of critical thinking, but does this presume that the brain knows the future to such an extent that everything is pretty much predetermined?..

nice article! I would choose the right track, even if Jones lives, less chaos and less people would die and even an invention will be created. Sure, on the left side if Leftie lives he will also kill the same people that Jones would kill but we may not be sure what will happen because the consequences will not be the same.

Are you saying Hitler kills more than cancer?

Regardless of whether it's a joke or not, it's fun to try and figure out which side would be best.

Yes, I knew it was a joke. I read the original trolley problems before reading this so I knew it was a "spoof" or "alteration" of the original philosophical trolley problem.
