So I bought Zack and Wiki today....
Thanks to your raving recommendations Squeek.
My personal review is pending, as I have yet to play it. I'll add in my initial thoughts tonight. |

Why not wait to play it before making a thread with your review.

Good luck finishing some of the later levels without an FAQ.
Serious props if you manage to do so without going crazy. |

Re: So I bought Zack and Wiki today....
Well, I just played it for an hour and I'm pretty impressed.
The levels are clever, and the music selection is great. They have been pretty easy so far, but I'm sure that will change as the game progresses. Last edited by travman301; 02-11-2008 at 09:44 PM.. |

Re: So I bought Zack and Wiki today....
By the way, the stage "Icicle of Prosperity" will blow your mind.
Even if you know what you're doing, it takes ten minutes to do. If you're just messing around trying to see what works where, it will take two hours. If you have friends helping you (WHICH I HIGHLY RECOMMEND), maybe an hour. It's not even remotely close to the hardest stage in the game (actually, the one before it is pretty damn hard too, though that one is much shorter and much more straightforward), but it is the first stage where, upon completion, you can actually show off just how much work is required to complete it. |

Re: So I bought Zack and Wiki today....
I just figured out that when you ring your bell around the little skulls they turn into jukebox things.
The problem is, I don't really understand how to play the game. I know you have to ring the bell in time with the pictures, but what about the zigzag lines? They never really explained it. Are you supposed the continuously ring it or something? Squeek, do you have any advice for me? (Also, you were right about skin grafting being a total bitch in TC:NB btw) Edit: Lol, I'm on the ice stages now. Pretty tough. I'm going to try and do it on my own though, unless I just get too furstrated. Edit X2: Nm, I figured it out. Also, I beat Icicle of Prosperity. One I figured out how to get the second totem guy the rest fell into place. Could you have beat the level just by beating the crap out of the ice block? Re: So I bought Zack and Wiki today....
The bell minigame is weird. It just requires some playtime with it to make sense of it.
The zigzags... I never quite figured out. I think you're just supposed to ring from the start and not stop until the end. The problem here is that you think "just ring once" on the dot, then start shaking on the zigzags. That doesn't work. Yes, you can win just by beating on the ice block. You get a terrible score, a sore wrist, and a lot of wasted time. |

Re: So I bought Zack and Wiki today....
I've been stuck on the stupid Air Ship for a long time now.
I've already used two hint dolls, and I am at the end but I just can't figure it out. I get to the point where I have the map, and can turn on the airplane, but the door is closed. If I go up to open it they see me. What do I do??? |

Re: So I bought Zack and Wiki today....
I was going to get this until I saw No More Heroes.
I don't know if that was a good choice, given that I finished No More Heroes in 8 hours.. |

Re: So I bought Zack and Wiki today....
Zack and Wiki isn't much longer, but it's about ten times more satisfying.
There's also a lot more post-game content. |

I love both, but I found NMH much more satisfying. zack and wiki became trial and error near the latter stages. Up until then the game was spectacular, but when it becomes trial and error it became slightly tedious. I'd have to go back to the game to remember some of the most clear, exact, examples, but there definitely are some obviously trial and error moments. No More Heroes simply uses the wii remote in a simple, yet extremely gratifying way. I've played through the game 6 times. (And don't talk about post-game content. Z&W is rediculous without a FAQ for the bonus content. NMH continues to exploit it's amazing control scheme. You can also continue to pick up on jokes, collect more items, and pretty much revel is the mindblowingly awesome story and characters. Oh, let's not forget to mention the different difficulties. I love Z&W, but the game started to drag at the end, whereas NMH maintained a frantic pace and engaging gameplay throughout. Congrats to the OP for picking up a great game. And to the other guy, you should buy both.

Re: So I bought Zack and Wiki today....
while it's true that the game becomes trial and error... that's something expected of point-and click games.

While that's true, it's still not an excuse.

While that's true, it's better than a button-mashing motion-control-heavy game with almost no plot until the very end.
