I played DDR for the first time ever today

I dunno. I aa'd max300 before So Deep and HVAM.

Although the second I put So Deep on 3x I aa'd it easily. Maybe people are just scared to put it faster or something.

so deep is no fun on 3x. Thats like doing bag on 3. it defeats the purpose.

and even tho i could pass hvam and so deep, it took me forever to pass max300. too much voltage....

Speed mods exist for a reason. Besides that, Bag has some of the most complex patterns in the game, and qualifies in that realm as a (DDR) 10 as well.

Max 300 is all streams.
Maxx Unlimited is all jumps.
HVAM is all shuffle-stepping.
So Deep is all gallops.

It all depends on what you're comfortable with. =)

Anything outside of my comfort speed mod level, which is around 300-430 (higher on Max songs) is INSANELY unfun for me and a waste of tokens. I also hate slowdowns with a passion and would play with CMods 100% of the time if they were available. There is nothing anyone can say, no matter how negative, that will make me change in this regard. The same is true of screenshrinking in FFR, by the way--even if the entirety of the FFR-playing community banded together as whole and declared that screenshrinking was a horrendous form of cheating, I would still screenshrink 100% of the time unless it was declared officially by Synth as a form of cheating.

Basically, any challenge besides moving my feet (or in the case of FFR, my fingers) to hit the correct arrows is something I'm completely not interested in. This includes playing anything no-bar or on a slow mod, or any mod like Drunk or Dizzy or whatever. This also applies especially to mines in SM (and if I played, ITG)--whenever I find mines in ANY song that are placed in a way that might actually make me confuse them for arrows, I immediately groan, quit the song, put No Mines on, and play again, because they do nothing but make the song harder to read, and I derive no enjoyment whatsoever from making it harder for me to read the arrows. Period.

For the record, I do Bag on 5x and nothing lower--I've tried lower and immediately afterwards declared that I would never go lower than 5x on it ever again unless someone paid me to. As far as I'm concerned, the purpose of the game (and of all songs in the game) is about physical movements to go with music, not about determining which of a whole bunch of arrows on a screen is higher--to me the arrows on the screen are merely a set of instructions, and the making the instructions harder to decipher is pointless to me.

Oh, and I have played Challenge mode once. It was the last time I will ever play Challenge mode as long as I play DDR.
