Columbus Day is NOT a holiday

Ha...but I get Thanksgiving off today, not Colombus...yay for all of us Canadians. Except we have to eat ham today, because my mom bought a bad turkey and didn't realise it until a couple of hours ago. So she took it back up to the store, and they gave her money back AND gave here a new turkey, which was about twenty-something pounds (no joke)- I didn't even know seventy-five dollar turkeys existed.

As for Colombus day, I couldn't really care, but I agree I don't understand how it's an actual holiday.

It is NOT an actual holiday. It shouldn't even be recognized as one because Colombus never even REALLY discovered America. A bunch of people were already there. How can you "discover" something that already has a bunch of people on it?!?????????
Tecnically, it's not even discovered then! That's like telling someone, that you discovered their car stereo system, but they already knew it was there but you took it anyway because you "discovered" it. It just doesn't add up.

Columbus's only real contribution to history is he instigated westward European travel. Those who have actually studied him know he was a fucking asshole.
I refuse to celebrate a day named after a fucking asshole and has no direct ties with America whatsoever.
