Oh hey, I made a game
First game I've made in a very long time, and definitely the game I'm most proud of.
http://www.kongregate.com/games/User15937/rotation It's a rotating puzzle game, sort of like what you would get if you took a Fifteen Puzzle and a Rubik's Cube and smashed them together. Just a heads up: the game gets very challenging very quickly. So good luck, and let me know what you think~ (p.s. if any of you have kongregate accounts, ratings would be appreciated, I need to get up to 10 ratings before my game will be listed outside of the "games under judgement" section)

Re: Oh hey, I made a game
Neat idea! Of course, the graphics are really basic, but the idea is great. Just before I dig deeper into this, I see that the tutorial made me win because I arranged the numbers from left to right (kind of like how you would read a book).
However, would it be possible to win if the numbers were ascending from top to bottom, and then from left to right (going by columns instead of rows)? The winning conditions are not so clear, is all I mean. Still, nice concept!

Re: Oh hey, I made a game
controls feel quite clunky, i think its the fact that in the 3x3 square only 4 of the 9 boxes actually make the square move when you click.

Re: Oh hey, I made a game
@barfood: No. You must go left-to-right, top-to-bottom will not count as a solved position.
@storn: Well this is because you can't make a 2x2 (or bigger) box with a piece on the right or bottom being the top-left corner.

Re: Oh hey, I made a game
If you double-click, you can move the whole 3x3 square

Re: Oh hey, I made a game
Double-click on the top-left corner, to be precise.
Also, higher difficulties have puzzles bigger than 3x3

infact, even something just saying "invalid move" might be nice instead of giving no indicator. Last edited by storn42; 08-2-2015 at 03:37 PM.. |

Re: Oh hey, I made a game
Making it just give you a box would lead to multiple possible box confusion (like, if you clicked on the "6" position, would you want the 2-3-5-6 block or the 5-6-8-9 block?)
"Invalid move" is definitely a good idea, though. I'll see about putting that in. Thanks for the idea!

Re: Oh hey, I made a game
That was on purpose... If I put up "invalid selection" at the same time as having all the arrows and selection and everything...

Re: Oh hey, I made a game
Having to re-click the same box to move it multiple times is a bit frustrating. Would be nice if it stayed selected until you select something else or click outside to deselect everything.

Re: Oh hey, I made a game
I did that to avoid accidental double moves.

Re: Oh hey, I made a game
I spent 30 min trying to do:
Code:
741 852 963 Code:
123 456 789 I would have never figured out you could do a 3x3 square if someone didn't say it in the thread too. It wasn't my first reflex to select twice/double click the top left corner. Interesting game actually, will give it a more serious try later on.

Re: Oh hey, I made a game
The tutorial puzzle is solved by rotating a 3x3 square, so...reading instructions too quickly :P
Though I'm glad you find it interesting Also... What the actual heck Benny, how are you wrecking this game so fast

I like the game It would be nice if there was an undo button. There are a few levels where I do less moves than required for 5 stars. Are we supposed to be able to do that? |
