There's definitely going to be some restructuring in D5/D6 whether it be moved down or flights we'll have to see. I'm still going to give time for people to sign up and see if we get more people in the lower divisions.

I think standards for divisions might need an overall revamping in general. The skill gaps in D5/6 are fairly large still.

Well this a cumulative scoring tournament so you could try fitting it into your schedule. Worse case just drop if you can't do it.

The skill gaps in D6 scare me. There are people who can consistently score good on 80+'s while there are some of us who only have certain 80+'s that we can score well on. Also there's that tier of D6 who's afraid to move up to D7 and clusterfuck the division with their 85+ sdg's and 90+ FC's that make the rest of us look like D5.

I think for this tournament I'll stick with the main engine since I didn't put it up that others would be used. I'm not sure who's familiar with other engines and who's not. I don't want to give a huge advantage to someone who has used these engines before against someone who may not have. In the future I might host tournaments that bounce around the other engines. I would like to make user tournaments a more regular thing again.

I'm very much aware of the skill gap, prior to losing skill I was on the bottom end of the skill gap in D5. Right now I just separated people based on the usual official tournament type guidelines. Remember I was the one that initially did flights I will try to make this as even as possible, just give me the time. I'll try to have everyone into finalized divisions by tomorrow afternoon.

I'm still seeing this as a one division utopia where prizes are scaling in a more friendly way toward people who participates. That way players would just focus on doing the best they can with people around their skill range. Top D7 player is almost guarantee to win, but I think it makes the entire process more fair and easier to deal with.. I agree that you sort of lose the chance to "win your division", but in the end, it just feels more stable as a system. /opinion

I've pretty much always done participation prizes in my tournaments and will do them here. But of course the winners are still going to end up with more, it would be a bit weird if they didn't.

Well best of luck, honestly I think it's damn near impossible to objectively place people into divisions, but I won't hold anything against your decision on placements. You've done a fair job in the past as far as I can remember.

That statement was generally raising awareness at how diverse the skill levels in the top divisions are. Kinda goes beyond the spectrum of the tournament and I feel I'm getting off topic.

Not to sound full of myself or anything but I think I've always been pretty solid in placements and getting people pretty close to one another. It's impossible to have 100% perfect placements because people have different strong points. But this is also why I do cumulative scoring tournaments and try to make sure I pick a diverse song set that stresses all different skills so that say one person may suck at jacks and not have a great round for one round but is awesome at trills and does awesome over their competitors in that.
There's really only so much that can be done. If we keep making more and more divisions it's going to eventually water down the competition too much. There needs to be a reason to push yourself harder and try to improve I think. Being at the bottom of my division in tournaments is what pushed me up to where I was.

What do you think of letting people send improvements for their previous rounds even once the round is over? Of course, they would need to send at least 1 score before the end of the round to not just be inactive.
