The default perfect timing is much earlier than in stepmania. it's very likely you are getting a lot of late goods. The timing in ffr from ascending to descending accuracy is "good, good, perfect, amazing, perfect, good, average". There is an option called "offset" that you can change to move the timing so that the amazing frame is in the middle of the arrow receptors.
