Re: Renard Queenston is a sex offender
I prefer just being referred to by a neutral name if people won't think of it as a chore to tip-toe around pronouns. Wish people could just forget about the sex I was born with. One gets addressed directly in real life though, and it's not like there are audio logs of every conversation other people have about onself, so that's ... yeah.
Too bad English pronouns aren't as easy to manipulate as Sweden's han and hon. "Earlier this month ... a new pronoun, hen, was added to the online version of the country’s National Encyclopedia."
"They" as a singular in English is for the replacement for the clumsy "his or hers", (s)he, etc. to refer to a generic, indefinite person. Using "they" to refer to a specific individual is not a prescribed usage. I'd just refer to the person by name to keep my grammar-head happy.
But enough of that, let's sing along with some Carpenters!
Play us a tune we can sleep sound to
We want to hold each other
Play us a groove so we hardly move
Just let our hearts beat together
Oh, baby, 'cause it feels so good
When we're close like this
Whisper in my ear and let me steal a kiss
Come on and touch me when we're sleeping
You know you've got that loving touch
Oo-ooh, touch me when we're sleeping
I want to feel you when I'm falling, feel you when I'm falling asleep
K, back to letting this die.Last edited by Silvuh; 01-19-2014, 04:42 PM.Comment

Re: Renard Queenston is a sex offender
I was wondering who 'they' were...
why's that?
transgender, gender confusion, whatever you want to call it, doesn't change the sex you were born with. Apart from a tiny minority who have some genetic sexual differentiation disorder w/ varying/messed-up sex chromosomes, everyone else has DNA that says you were born a guy or girl.Last edited by popsicle_3000; 01-19-2014, 07:05 PM.

Re: Renard Queenston is a sex offender
If someone is transgendered or agendered, especially if they are now passing full time as a gender different from their birth sex and/or have undergone sexual reassignment surgery, asking them 'what sex were you born' is pretty rude and prying, and may well make people pretty uncomfortable.Comment

Re: Renard Queenston is a sex offender
Sure, and say the sex which they were born doesn't match up to their gender, and having people tell them things like "I don't care if you are transgendered, you were born an X and so you are an X" is pretty insensitive and ignorant.transgender, gender confusion, whatever you want to call it, doesn't change the sex you were born with. Apart from a tiny minority who have some genetic sexual differentiation disorder w/ varying/messed-up sex chromosomes, everyone else has DNA that says you were born a guy or girl.
Say you were born in some circumstance that has caused you nothing but pain and grief for your entire life. Say you have spent years doing everything you can to struggle with and overcome that circumstance. Say you are now living away from that circumstance and are actually happy and comfortable with your life.
Now say someone comes along and says "Nope, you were born in that circumstance, so you are stuck with that circumstance forever."Comment
