Re: 9th Official Tournament -- Round 3
Can we, like, move YOSHl to D6 please? It's only round 3, and if I recall correctly the 6th official tournament had SD_TsuGamush moved to D4 before round 5 or something.
Argument for SD_TsuGamush bump to D4 2 years ago:
A bunch of FMO SDGs and some sub-50 FGO scores. One of the arguments was a 37-good Frictional Nevada, because that's not D3.
My argument for YOSHl being bumped:
fucking corecore AAA.
Plus that Music (For Kirby) SDG from 2 years ago that somehow didn't already warrant a D6 placement even though blackflags on Tsugihagi Construction and FN were enough to bump MrPreggers for the 7th tourney to D6.
And that's all I have to say. What do I care I'm still worse than half of my division atm.The above post has a 50% chance of being useless. Potentially. Maybe.
BEST AAAs: WANDERLUST, Pandora, Necropotence, Mourning The Lost, Eradication, Feldschlacht

I'll still try for the AAA, but i can't make any guarantees. I've already mindblocked on really dumb parts.. I have not tried playing on non mirror yet though, might be my last resort :>Originally posted by CallipygianThere's always some issue you can find with the exact terminology of a game. Re: 9th Official Tournament -- Round 3
Don't know why you quoted me since I never addressed this, but to be clear, I completely agree.
No. I do believe that moving people that far into the tournament is just shifting the cards unfairly, but that was in the past. Just because the decisions in the past were worse doesn't mean we have to continually adhere to the same terrible standards.
There's a point in the tournament where you'll just have to leave people to progress at whatever rate they are going. Beyond this point, it'd be just artificially creating more competition and disregarding said person's efforts.Last edited by bmah; 11-12-2013, 08:09 PM.Comment

Precisely this. No one deserves to have their opportunity to win the official taken out of their hands just because they've been putting a shit load of effort into improving and actually improving very quickly.No. I do believe that moving people that far into the tournament is just shifting the cards unfairly, but that was in the past. Re: 9th Official Tournament -- Round 3
Well, I don't believe it's very far in the tournament at all at this point. I also believe the placement was wrong in the first place if a blackflag on Frictional Nevada was before considered D6 material.
Seriously, there are no other D5 players to my knowledge who have acquired St. Scarhand with today's standards, nor gotten any 80+ AAAs which ties into the same subject. The above post has a 50% chance of being useless. Potentially. Maybe.

Re: 9th Official Tournament -- Round 3
You're in D5 and you have Indo no Sobaya (which would be a Scarhand get by today's standards) before the tourney started, so you don't really have much ground to stand on. mutant corecore just so happens to be a file that packs all of Yoshl's strengths into one package. I don't feel that an FGO AAA would be considered absolute D6, but he's definitely teetering that line.Comment

Corecore = 81
Scarhand get = 79-84
Which sucks because I am THIS CLOSE to AAAing Frictional Nevada/Sparkle Downer, and have been for like 1.5 years lol. Am I wrong or was it 78+ before? If they changed it that's bullshit.
And, because this isn't being noticed
Tsugi - 77
FN - 78
blackflags = D6
Music For Kirby - 89
SDG = D5The above post has a 50% chance of being useless. Potentially. Maybe.

Re: 9th Official Tournament -- Round 3
lol wow, I've always assumed that Indo no Sobaya was a 79+ by today's standards. My bad
Didn't Preggers get a couple of low SDGs on multiple low FGOs like Ketsarku at the time when he was put into D6 though?Comment

Re: 9th Official Tournament -- Round 3
First off: consider this your first formal warning. As mentioned in the OP and many times in the thread, do not complain publicly about division placements. Being that you did though, let me address things:Can we, like, move YOSHl to D6 please? It's only round 3, and if I recall correctly the 6th official tournament had SD_TsuGamush moved to D4 before round 5 or something.
Argument for SD_TsuGamush bump to D4 2 years ago:

And that's all I have to say. What do I care I'm still worse than half of my division atm.
1.) SDGs on mid FGOs don't guarantee a D6 position. Hakulyte was placed D5 in the previous official with 7g on Breakbeat Acid (85), so it's not like this is completely out of the realm of impossibility. Consistency is important.
2.) FMO SDGs rightfully should be in D4, and FGO SDGs rightfully should be in D5, unless they stress a -very- specific skill; see: YoshL being put in D4 despite AIM Anthem AAA, and struggling to stay alive each and every round -- see: Zageron being left in D3 after Aim Anthem AAA, and getting eliminated on round 2 of D3 with a 100+ good equivalent score. No offense, but the 7th official tournament is FAR from the pinnacle of a good tournament, and comparisons with that tournament should definitely be negative ones. My (very blunt) two cents.
3.) Preggers being bumped to D6 based off of those two scores is completely unfair, but it is a difference in standards. Again, the 7th official tournament had a lot of flaws.
4.) /mu/tant corecore AAA is not going to make me budge for a D6 placement at round 3 given the fact that the song is less than a minute, and is very stressful on jacks which -- go figure, coincides with the skill point that YoshL happens to be good at. If the Scarhand get was on a considerably more technical file (see: Ketsarku Mozgalom [80], 2-9 [80], honki sentai [79]), then I would understand your point. All corecore has for difficulty is a 32nd wall, some 8th note jacks at 260 (very reasonable even for FMOs, considering things like bmv.578 have extended regular jacks at 160+ BPM 16ths) and some bursts near the end of the file. The fact that it's 0:43 seconds even further reinforces the fact that it shouldn't hold a strong merit considering that there's only one major spike in the file, and that it's highly replayable.
Next time, consider what you are saying before making a largely irrelevant argument.Last edited by TC_Halogen; 11-12-2013, 08:24 PM.Comment

Re: 9th Official Tournament -- Round 3
For the record, what would be a good comparison tournament if the 7th isn't one?
That pretty much ends any comparisons I could ever make I've been on here since 2007 and didn't sign up for any tournaments until 2011.The above post has a 50% chance of being useless. Potentially. Maybe.
