SMW on Shrooms is a very intense stamina file, of which there are relatively few in FFR. Which might be why it's so jarring to you, stamina is a skill that is not heavily emphasized in FFR thusfar and it's something that takes a lot of practice to build endurance. Fingers get tired too!

dropping by to say some stuff before i go off to get owned by my finance midterm review sesh

smw on shrooms is really great and flows very nicely, will definitely play more whenever i'm bored, feels like a 89 though (minus the end)

go beyond is also really, really amazing
for many people these files might feel mashy but when you can properly read and hit them, they just feel so nice, especially go beyond's jacks

unconnected seems like a beefed up version of my dist squad
and that's not a good thing ... but it does seem kind of fun in a sadistic way

Hi Anaru.

You saying that it looks like Dist Squad really doesn't bother me because I happen to enjoy the file, almost in the same sadistic manner that you mention for Unconnected., and it's funny because when I started putting in the seven note 48th bursts, I was like "hey, this looks a lot like Dist Squad", haha.

D7 wasn't even supposed to exist at all and were playing what was lined up for D6 elimination. Did everyone forget the huge conversation in the thread prior to the start about what we'd have to do to add a D7.

Read my post again; I made no complaints about the way the tournament was scored. My issue was with the horrendous choice for a final round file. The file itself isn't bad at all, it's very fun imo...just not a good choice for the final round is all.

D1: very good file
D2: a 64, you sure? plays like a 60-61...
D3: might be pick of the week. I love the streams, they remind me of the speed up ones in holy orders.
D4: lets just say that i bet d4 is super happy it's raw scoring. plenty of aids patterns in this. quads thrown in, ugh. don't like some of the charting
D5: does the initial sound remind anyone else of Keftka's laugh in FF3?

It is Kefka's laugh lol, there's a whole bunch of random vg shit thrown in that song. The Mega Man Robot Master intro theme is another obvious one, but the full version of the song even turns into Michael Jackson's Thriller at one point, and even includes its own rickroll lmao, plus more that I'm probably forgetting

I read your post the first time and you said it was because of cumulative scoring, which again D7 wasn't planned and this file was already D6's final. Had D7 been planned in the first place the files would have been much harder throughout.

Unconnected = Reaaaally stupid choice for a final round of a tourney using accumulated scores. If there's one way to make the rest of the tourney redundant, it's to make the first 6 rounds piss-easy and then throw in this file last.

Whatever way you're interpreting that post, it shouldn't matter since I am clarifying that I have no issues with the scoring system used and the way divisions were broken up. The cumulative system is fine, so long as the respective skill sets showcased by the players have been represented equally in the song choices. The fact that this file so grossly emphasizes mini-bursts distorts the weighting of skill sets to the point where the rankings will be poor reflections of actual overall FFR skill. I hope that cleared up what I was trying to say. I myself wasn't even involved in the conversation talking about whether or not to have D7. You bring up a good point though that the difficulty should be harder throughout if the additional division is to be successfully implemented.

SMW While Taking Mushrooms is great fun. I really like the bizarre rhythms and jump jacks in the last handstream, it's an interesting challenge.
