Sorry but I think the whole "cancer awareness" excuse is bullshit. You don't raise awareness of some health problem just by doing some random thing, you raise it by actually telling people about the problem, and growing a beard doesn't make that any easier. No sane person will look at an unshaven guy in the middle of November and automatically think "oh, it must be for male cancer awareness!" unless they are already completely aware of the issue you're trying to raise. If you do something that actually raises cancer awareness, awesome; if you want to go a month without shaving, also awesome. But don't lie to yourself that they are somehow the same thing.

Nobody even knows the backstory for it and I had never heard of such a cause until this thread. But apparently it is so absurd to not know that it is about cancer awareness.

Going to agree with wayward on this one. It is doing a terrible job and it hardly even makes sense. I'm going to just assume that it is actually unrelated to cancer awareness in origin.

Well whenever people say "lol nerd why havent you shaved" I say "Movember - Prostate cancer awareness month"

Then they are like

"What? They are related?"



I mean, I thought a lot of people already knew about it, really nobody does.

I feel as though it's a terrible job if you don't tell people about it, absolutely. It's funny - nobody really cares but I still say it- making myself look like an idiot, but i dont care.

If it IS actually unrelated, and just put together over the past few years, I would laugh, and cry. I mean it's still for a good cause, so I am sticking by it.

I think before no shave november can be a cause about cancer awareness there should be something to spread awareness that no shave november is for cancer awareness.

It should be in the previous month of october and you should go the whole month while shaving your pubic hair.
