        I guess a noob is just a new or inexperienced person, and as mentioned above(lmao), used exclusively in games.

                                    ^This. I pretty sure it deviates from the word "new." From there, we have the term "newbie." We take the first syllable of the word "newbie" and we get the shorthand term "noob." However, only "noob" has the negative connotation associated with it. I believe that is the origin of the word "noob" if I'm not mistaken.
