Constant difficulty is boring, and I definitely can appreciate fluctuating difficulty, but one single spike so completely unrelated to the rest of the file is a worse sin in my opinion.
It's a subjective thing and as far as I'm concerned SHION crossed the "this isn't fun anymore" line, then ran a few miles past it yelling "LOLOL MINIJACK SECTION" just for good measure.
Thankfully I don't ever have to play it again, not my division's file \o/
Although I will agree it makes for a good tournament file- after all, *something* has to be difficult because AAAs are kind of hard to compare lol. So I see its value as a tournament file, but that doesn't mean I have to find it fun.
EDIT- contrast this with the difficulty spike in Love is a Danger Zone, which I really enjoyed- a medium size 24th burst is a reasonable thing to throw in a file that already has sections with similar NPS and pattern difficulty.
