Lightning beat the crap out Washington. Series over, TB Sweep.
Sharks lead 3-0 after another overtime game in their run.
Boston leads 3-0 after a shellacking of Philly. Yes. <3
I'm looking pretty sweet on my picks right about now.Comment

There's my recap. =P
Hold up, going to tally the results.
Out of the 14 participants this round, the record was: 4-10. Although I doubt any of us predicted a sweep.Life is simply unfair... Don't you think?Comment

VAN/NSH: Tight game all the way. Nashville claws back twice to tie at 1-1 then 2-2, but Kesler hits the winner almost halfway through the 3rd period. Henrik Sedin finally boards a goal (an empty-netter) in the last half-minute to clinch the victory.
Canucks lead 3-1! But as the Chicago series took overtime in game SEVEN to finish off, Nashville still has a chance. Just not a good one with Vancouver's momentum. Damn.
On a side note, I'm in the 97th percentile on ESPN's Playoff challenge. :3Comment

Re: NHL Playoffs Predictions (Credit Giveaway)
Few notes on this year's playoffs:
Can't believe the Lightning swept the Caps that easily, maybe I underestimated them after watching an ugly first series against the Pens. Mike Knuble says it best in his interview though. Something along the lines of "I just don't get it, it's like whenever they need a goal, or want a goal.. they press this button and it just happens. Seems so effortless and it's extremely frustrating."
Looks like Boston will beat out the Flyers as well but I expect a bit of a comeback from them before this thing is over.
On the western side of things, I don't really think Nashville's crowd is that special in comparison to all the other arenas doing the exact same thing (minus the live bands at intermissions perhaps). I don't see anything left of them. Going to Vancouver for game 5 and only generating an average of like 8 or 9 shots a period, they're going to need a serious style change to beat the Canucks (hungry to end the series).
Have barely been following the Wings/Sharks series but I'm extremely surprised to see SJ up 3-0.
Most overtime games I've ever seen before. It's making for some pretty good hockey, hope it gets even better for conference finals.Comment

Dangit, Cyrenics, you're stealing my job here. XD
Either way, beauty goal by Kes to get though both O'Brien AND Weber, and we get treated to the wide-armed "I'm awesome" celebration.

Re: NHL Playoffs Predictions (Credit Giveaway)
To be honest i'm not. I was expecting more of a 2-1 series, but going back to last year, San Jose has won 11 of the last 13 meets against the two teams, and the previous 7 wins have been one goal wins, 4 of which went into overtimes.
I used this stat to predict the Sharks taking the win, and it looks like that will be the case. The Sharks have the Wings number, because they can get into Howard's head. The trick is to pepper shots on him, and don't let Detroit score 4 or more goals. Whenever Detroit scores 4 goals they win.
Too bad that Vancouver won, I wanted Nashville to win as many games so the small hockey market could grow. Maybe they can force a game 6

Re: NHL Playoffs Predictions (Credit Giveaway)
Seeing the fans there (give or take a thousand or so Canucks fans) makes me optimistic about hockey in Nashville. That was their 6th consecutive sellout, and they're not exactly a rarity there anymore. Even during the regular season.
The Preds' success over the past 7 seasons or so has taken a tiny hockey market and shown what steady success can do. Of course, the one counter to this is Phoenix, but they'll always be the Jets to everyone.Last edited by T-Force; 04-24-2017, 11:16 AM.Life is simply unfair... Don't you think?Comment

Re: NHL Playoffs Predictions (Credit Giveaway)
And tonight, two more teams have a chance to sweep. Boston and San Jose could punch their tickets to the conference finals tonight, so check things out!
Bruins faithfuls hope this won't be a repeat of last year... and the Sharks look to dump the Red Wings in the most unceremonious (and rare for the famed Detroit team) fashion.Comment

BOS/PHI: Philly's done! Boston doesn't waste any time in completing the sweep this year, blasting Philadelphia 5-1.
DET/SJ: Helm scores with under 90 seconds to avoid overtime, and the Wings are around for at least one more session of hockey this year! Can you dig it?Comment
