I'm really depressed about this, I used to talk to that kid every single day on AIM back when I frequented this site. Really nice guy.

Is there any type of newspaper link that you or danceguy can post? There have been instances of people faking deaths on other sites I go to and I just don't want to make sure that this isn't some bull**** thing before I get really sad about it.

edit: a few months ago he tried to recontact me after not having spoken for a few years and I ignored him :\

There's a link to his obituary somewhere in the thread.

        RIP man.

I didn't really know him but I remember seeing him around and reading some of his posts. This is too bad....

I only saw his name every so often, but that's enough for me to be willing to post here.

I quit this game, but I had to get on to give respects. I'm saddened to know that a friend of mine has died.

Jellygod, may you be happier, wherever you are.

              I'll miss you, a lot.

Re: Passing away of Steve aka Jellygod

Stopping in again just to read what people have said. Very touching, and I'm very happy to see how in spite of all the negativity that seems to float around this place, the community is still loyal and strong at its core.

I find it rather remarkable the type of bond you can forge with someone through an entirely visual/textual medium that has no physical contact. It really is astounding. I read that a lot of people were crying and I think three or four years ago I would've laughed at that idea and laughed at how people could become emotional over someone that they've never had intimate contact with. Now? Well, I totally understand why people are upset. The crying makes sense. I didn't have as much contact with Steve as some of you guys did, but even I found myself stunned, lost for words, confused and ultimately saddened.

Death, whether accidental or pre-meditated for whatever reason, sort of refocuses things. It provides perspective, at least so far as I have ascertained. Death has the unique ability to give a very precious meaning to life, a texture, a feeling that is otherwise buried in the human subconscious. To be succinct, what I'm trying to say is rather than remembering Steve for passing away, remember him for his life instead. Remember the good times, the memories, the interactions, the smiles, the laughs. Think fondly of him. He's looking down on us all.

Once again, rest in peace, man. FFR misses you.

I read this was his favorite song. Felt it would be appropriate to include this in my post:

                With fond remembrance,

I can't think of words that bring justice to this tragic event. I'm shocked. I'm desperately sorry for this happening. I wish I would have talked to you more. I hope the family is coping ok, and I wish you knew that so many people care about you deeply and sincerely. I'm on the verge of tears. I love you all. We are never alone.

Re: Passing away of Steve aka Jellygod

I remember probably a couple years back playing MP competitively with the guy. My one hand versus his index. It wasn't long after that that he had blazed past me.
It's unfortunate that this is the only memory I'd established with him, but coming from the posts in this thread I can appreciate the connection that everyone shared with him.
As foil stated more eloquently, it's gratifying to witness the heartfelt sentiments through what would appear to be a calloused community at first glance. It goes to show that there are people behind their avatars.

While I didn't know him that well, this still hit me pretty hard, and I truly wish the best for anyone who might be struggling with this loss.

Only warning, be it a very very small one, was how he posted on facebook that Peter and Julian (danceguy and I) were the best friends a dude can have. But that wasn't even out of the ordinary because it's something he would normally say anyway. He was always just...happy to have what he had. He appreciated all of his friends and didn't let them forget it. None of it makes any sense at all.

and @ EnR: I also hadn't seen that video and it just made me so happy to hear his voice again, doing what he always did and goofing off.
This post baffles me too, seeing that he was lively 2 hours before. It's just a huge shock..

Jelly, you were a pretty spectacular dude and definitely one of the more fun posters and people to talk to on this site. Unfortunately my lack of being around this site for a large period led me to not get to know you personally as well, but the few times I played MP against you and talked to you were certainly fun.

As a fellow vet I am truly saddened to see a great guy and actually a pretty good player back in the day unable to continue on in this world. I hope that whatever may happen to us after we die will allow you to be free of pain or worry, and I pray out of respects and sympathy for your family and closer friends.

P.s. does anyone have the family's address? I was thinking of possibly getting people together to write a letter or make something for the family, basically show how many people thought of him as a great guy, kind of being inspired by the "Rachel's Challenge" movement. If none of you have heard of it go check it out and be sure to spread the word.

EDIT: Pretty sure he was one of the old-time members that I passed my AIDS to and begun a chain of events with AIDS so epic that soon everyone on the site had it :O
