Re: Change log
Back to important things.
We're all aware that FFR has been around for a long-ass time. Technology, however, continues to march forward. To my knowledge, the existing R1 engine was built using Flash 8, but here we are in late 2010 and Adobe has come out with a version 10, which I've heard a fair bit of whining about when the compatibility issues cause frame rate drops and whatnot in the middle of a game (I know I've had such an issue appear and disappear during the same play...my 8-0-0-0 of Mou Uta was one such example). Eventually, due to the ongoing march of technology, legacy code to fix compatibility issues with a new version of the same program is dropped in a version release in order to lower the time and cost of developing new versions.
I guess the point I'm trying to make is to start a discussion on whether or not it's time for a rebuild. Yes, such a project would be inordinately time-consuming (look how much effort it took to make R2, and 3rd Style is almost as much a running gag as Duke Nukem Forever) and eat up developer time for other projects, but it would be a necessary evil in order to preserve the game for future generations.
