I don't know if this counts as a true MMO, but I first got introduced to the world of online gaming (after Yahoo Euchre) with Adventure Quest. After attending DragonCon down in Atlanta over Labor Day weekend, they went back to tinkering with a full Flash MMO called Adventure Quest Worlds. It's out, but you have to give them money first after you make a character in the original game, only it's a 1-time payment. They've even struck a deal with some stores so that you can purchase upgrade cards at a store instead of having to use PayPal.

I've played: MapleStory (61 cleric), 2Moons (85 Segnale), Rappelz(27 Cleric), WoW(30 hunter, 30ish mage, 32 druid, 10ish priest.. I'm an alt whore), Regnum Online (Can't remember).. I think that's it. Not currently playing any.

as far as mmorpgs are concerned, i tried runescape, everquest, and wow. the only one which i still play is wow, where i have 70 tauren druid, 70 tauren war, 70 tauren shaman. (lol i play too much =/)

I have to say the only MMORPG I've ever played, and on top of that truly enjoyed is Wow.

I've tried a few others, but they just weren't really for me.
