Rock N' Roll racing. I think it was the first game to actually get a real sound track from big name artists.

well...to me...i'd have to say either Thunder Force 4 (A.K.A. Lightening Force 4 for those in Europe) or Raiden Trad for the Genesis...which since it's a poor, 1 player clone of the original Raiden arcade game...also...i think Raiden Fighters 2/Jet are pretty good...infact...i'll put several midis up for those who want to know what the music is like.
to get to Raiden music, go to this page http://www.vgmusic.com/music/other/m.../index-gr.html and scroll down till you find game names "Raiden" "Raiden DX" "Raiden Fighters Jet" and "Raiden II", then, just go through the songs. to get Thunder/Lightening Force 4 music, go to this page http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console.../index-sz.html , just scroll down...WAY down untill you see "Thunder Force 4". and once again...just go through the songs. there's even DDR midis at this site, which it's at http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console.../index-af.html , just scroll down, and start listening to DDR music, and there's several of them to listen to as well.

Hmm. Well, it's hard to say what's the -best-, because I haven't played every SNES and Genesis game out there.
My favorite, however, would be FF6. The game's music was one of the things it was known for, and just that Terra theme brings tears to my eyes....*sniff* |

Depends on what kinda music you like. Personally I like Crono Trigger's music the best, but I also love EarthBound's and Bomberman's music (both on SNES).

hell yah, Earthbounds songs were just sooo funny. Plus u can't go wrong with a rpg that pokes fun at other rpg's.
If not that one, maybe ff3 since it had some more of the original sonds and songs than Chrono Trigger. Ooh, what about just plain ol' Super Mario World? I mean c'mon...all the songs in it are the same song just played different ways, styles, speeds, etc. Thats just cool stuff.

Chrono Trigger is probably the best I've heard. Most Mega Man songs are pretty good too, if I remember right.
