Asking to be a moderator isn't the way that moderators become such. To be very blunt, I've never heard of you, know nothing about you, and as a result, have a list of several dozen people who I'd suggest to become a moderator that doesn't include you.

It isn't just the desire, the availability or even the ability to moderate well that makes a moderator. Becoming engaged with the community in a way that shows the existing staff that you are a dedicated member of the community with a vested interest in seeing it grow, and over time, show yourself to be a helpful, quality poster and you will have started down the right path.
