Here is my car brand new, got it for my birthday in August. It was 20 000$ In this picture it has 800 km on it. (Edit, 20 000$ US)
![]() Here is my car last weekend, it now has 12 000 km on it and 11 000$ damage on it. ![]() ![]() It doesn't look like as much, but the undercarriage is destroyed, the car is a foot and a half shorter, all its insides are compressed from the impact, if the car wasn't completely new, it would be wrote-off. Who's the assh*le that did this to me? Well I'd love to tell you, if he hadn't torn off as soon as he slammed into me. Yah I was downtown at 7:00 at night. Ironically, I had just come out of the carwash. (I had bought the expensive hotwax to protect my car from that winter salt) I bulled out of the station and turned left, and drive along for 30 seconds, when the crosswalk lights start flashing, and a guy begins crossing the street. I stop for him and am sitting there with my girlfriend next to me, bobbing my head to the music and SLAM the whole car lurches and we feel the full impact of a Ford Pickup going 50km/h with my breaks on. I was just in pure shock, but it was nothing compared to the shock of that same asshole putting it in reverse and tearing around me full speed. It took me about 2 seconds to get over the shock and then I booked it. (My girlfriend screaming at me to get the f*cker) He thought he had gotten away I'm sure, but unlucky for him I had been practicing getting my car from 0 to 100 in 4 seconds. 30 seconds after he hit me, both of us going 140 weaving in and out of traffic on a two lane street I got close enough to read his license plate but the goddamn thing was covered with filthy snow and shit. All I could see were the first two letters CV and what looked like an I. I ID'd the car as a green ford pickup and tore after him for what must have been 10 minutes. He was circling downtown, going 140+, with me right behind him. I almost lost him twice, with him becoming increasingly reckless. I had to slow down and look out before going after him as he flew through red lights and blind turns crossing both lanes. I had my horn blazing the whole time to warn other cars and to warn the guy that I was pissed. I didn't know what I was doing chasing him. I guess I was half hoping that he would bounce and the stuff would fall of his license plate, or that he would crash and I could have at him, or that he might even come to his senses and pull over. I was praying for a cop to see the chase but they're never around when you need them. Finally the chase came to a close. It was just like something out of a movie. I thought I had him as he approached a two-lane intersection, with oncoming traffic one way, and three cars stopped, taking up both lanes on our side of the street, just starting up again after the red light. I was going to pull up next to him at the light, take a good look at the guy, maybe spot the front license plate, and let him be on the way, but the desperate f*** had gone too crazy, and now aimed his car right between the three stopped ones. He slammed through them, sideswiping the three of them and taking off all their inside mirrors. They started to pull away blocking off my pursuit and I had to admit defeat. I wasn't about to damage my car myself, or endanger anyone else just for the unlikely chance of getting to see who hit me. I pulled over and called 911 and got some cops over there. Meanwhile, another car who had been sideswiped just then pulled in front of me, and waited for the cops to come too. That was when I got out of the car to see the damage. As my girlfriend and I stood up out of the car, glass fell off our laps, and I went around to the back and almost cried when I saw how much he had wrecked my car. The pictures do no justice to how bad it actually was. When the police came they said that there likely wasn't anything they could do with the first three letters of the license plate of an old ford (I guessed early 90's) but the story is not over. No, I get a call from my constable 4 days later, and it seems 20 minutes after I reported the accident, someone called their truck in stolen. It was a green ford with the license place CVJ So that was obviously the one that hit me. At first happy at the news of the lead, I realized almost instantly what was actually going on. The constable confirmed my suspicions in telling me that the guy who owned the truck no longer had any insurance. The truck was also found ditched downtown, 5 minutes from where it hit me. It was also found that the owner of the said stolen truck lived 10 minutes from there. It's obvious what happened. When the owner hit me, having no insurance, he tore off, ditched the car and reported it stolen so that he wouldn't get sued for the damage. The bastard won't get caught because my cop said as positive he is that the guy did it, he has no proof that he was driving the car without an eye witness, and I sure as hell didn't see him. He had one of those cargo tops on the back of his truck that blocked the back window, and it was so filthy that I couldn't even see the shape of the guy in the truck. He told me there was nothing more he could do. With no one to sue, I had to pay the 1000$ deductible myself (so much for all the money I saved on gas). And they are now in the process of locating all the parts they need. Some will take up to a month and a half for them to get their hands on them, and the damage will be well over 10 000$. I'm also too young to get the rental car that my insurance is supposed to provide. In summary. A guy crossed the street. I get hit from behind and the guy runs. Now I'm 1000$ poorer and without transportation for 2 months or more. It is an unfair world my friends. 'Alain |
