Default Post Your Poetry

This one I wrote out for a writing assignment, where we had to write a poem about one of the main characters' dillemas. The book was Black Boy by Richard Wright.

Cat

Killed a little cat I did,
as if it were a catydid;
Hung it up and
Strung it tight:
How will I, Richard, sleep tonight?

And again, they say I'm wrong;
Yet again they sing this song.
Doing wrong, not doing right:
How will I, Richard, sleep tonight?

Doing wrong, not doing right:
How will I, Richard, sleep tonight?
Battered, beaten on the floor,
At least sleep won't be a chore.

__

It's horribly obvious what this topic is about, so I'll leave out a description.
