I don't know if there is a live online multiplayer feature, but you're able to login to an account on etternaonline.com from within etterna and have your scores submitted to online leaderboards as you play. I've seen a couple old names show up in the leaderboards for a few songs . When you view the leaderboard from within etterna it looks like it mixes rated scores in with non-rated by default, so you'll need to change the view mode to 'current rate' if you want to filter those out.
