AIM HELP!!!

Hi everyone I'm just going to get straight to the point cause IM FRUSTRATED.

OK so here we go; I was using AIM the other day and the pop-up thingamabobber that said there is a new AIM out and I should download it. I said to myself; "self, I'm not doing anything right now why not download the newest version and check/test it out." Anyway a minute or two later when I got it downloaded and upgraded or what not, I tried to sign on. To my dissmay the 'AOL Instant Messenger Error' box keeps coming up and its the annoying one that says "The AIM service can't be reached." Now to me this means that my internet isn't plugged in or something along those lines. Obviously my internet works otherwise I wouldn't be making this post. I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING. At least everything that I can think of. UNinstall and REinstall; didn't work. UNinstall and delete and REdownload it; didn't work. Get a new screen name; DIDN'T WORK. I was just wondering if someone could help me out and maybe has something that I haven't thought of. It would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. If I try getting on AIM express it doesn't work either.
