Intoxicated Gaming or How I Stop Discriminating and Learned to Love FFXIV
Doing dailys on WoW on six different characters, League first win, HotS quests and Hearthstone quests had me feeling a little locked in on my gaming. No room for anything else ya know? So while intoxicated last night I impulse bought Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on Steam. Had a few old WoW pals who had switched over telling me about how cool chaining spells were together and shit. I wake up this morning and oh fuck!! I totally did buy XIV last night! Call up my buddy and we start the grind. Im not going to throw up all the little details of my time so far just a few likes/dislikes.
Cut scenes. Grab your popcorn and RC for these boys. Although they were a little long and left me feeling like shut the fuck up and let me kill things, the scene itself was very very well made. Typical Square quality. Early game quests. OH MY GOD YOURE GOING TO MAKE ME SAY TO THIS NPC 'You misunderstand' LIKE 10000 TIMES. Some of the quests literally jerk you off like I dont know how to emote. Okay maybe you dont but there doesn't need to be MULTIPLE quests in DIFFERENT parts of the city showing you how to /beckon /dance and there was one more. The ingame chat has one of the coolest features ever. Typing a simple phrase or small set of words then hitting tab will broadcast it to players in their native language. This should be a part of every game. I wanted to be a dark mage because I love magic, ranged classes and dArKnEsS. Naturally I pick Thaumaturge. Before I make myself sound dumb Ill just say I don't understand jobs yet but I know I need to get an archer to level 4 for a cross job healing spell. Speaking of spells they all look fucking awesome. Havent done my first actual dungeon yet but the solo fates (just finished the story quest to open airships) but they've all been awesome. Full party teleport is amazing. Not having a mount til a bit into the story is meh. Takes a little while to switch from the WoW mindset to 'oh sometimes I have to sleep mobs and can't just focus them all down' but once I master the whole Aether Fire/Water(buff you get as you cast a certain elemental spell that effects the other elemental spell) thing I should be the best mage on Malboro. tl; dr by buying FFXIV while intoxicated I think I found love |
