Default RE: Re: Matt Clement Hit By Line Drive

BMX... how on earth do you get hit in the face by a baseball at any position OTHER than pitcher. You must have some bad reflexes. There is zero excuse to get hit in the face when playing more than 60 feet away.

About the only situation I can think of is: Little League with 60 feet bases... you expect someone to bunt... you're playing 3rd base and are in front of the base to cover said bunt. Hitter doesn't bunt... swings... and clocks you in the face. But, at the same time... the ball (by simple physics) is not traveling NEARLY as fast as one hit by a MLB player... aka... it wasn't thrown near 90+ mph, nor was the bat speed fast enough to have it come back at 100+ mph. All this leads me to again say that you have to be an idiot to get hit in the face by a baseball when playing a position OTHER than pitcher. You are simply too far away to be unable to react.

I definately can see it happening.... the same way I can see a fly ball landing on someone's head... sheer stupidity or lack of skills.

*shrugs*
