![]() As some of you might have seen in the video database, I put up a video about a recent stepfile I made that is composed entirely of other FFR stepfiles. It's also mislabeled, the song title is actually FFRevolution (the R wasn't capitalized). I felt it would be better if this was just a single release instead of a file submission to FFR.
Click the banner to download. Also, play this on cmod. ![]() Considering the song's title was FFRevolution, I wanted to make a file showing how FFR files evolved over time. The most obvious is how much the converter improved. Here is the song listing: I'll give some background on why certain parts are colored the way they are in this stepfile. Crowdpleaser: The converter didn't know how to handle anything that wasn't 4ths, 8ths or 16ths. So when 32nds and 64ths were involved, the colors were out of whack. I believe the file was also rated a VC at the time. ![]() Balloon Fever: Like stated above, the converter couldn't handle anything above simple colors. As a result, when the 12th jumps came, the rest of the file turned into pink notes. This is why I colored that section pink. I also believe Balloon Fever was rated a 13 back in that time Grand Galop Chromatique: This one I remember was rated a 13 back when it was released. The file suffered from red note syndrome when the 24th section in the beginning came. Exciting Hyper Highspeed Star: Remember that 24th roll in EHHS? Yeah, that screwed the rest of the file up in the original conversion back when it was released. It also suffered from red note syndrome because of it. Revolutionary Etude: Believe it or not, the Revolutionary Etude in game is actually not the exact steps as the file in the Essential Sim Collection Pack. Reason being is that back in the day the dwi converter had an error with a certain jump pattern and placed it different. The [34][14][34][14] part was actually just a [34][12][34][12] jumptrill in the original stepfile. While a lot of the other files were added because I found their patterns interesting, it's important to note a lot of the 2007 and earlier files I put in here were also played frequently back in the av-miss glitch days. Shashakiro was the first one to give input about what was feasibly possible to score on songs due to avmiss glitch (e.g. Crowdpleaser is impossible to FC but getting around 740 combo when the 64th trill started was feasible, Nova Pulser 7g is best possible score, and so on). However, to this day I don't think anyone remembers what the hell Domani and Delirium are about with their nonsensical colors. Then again, that was back when the color converter was still in its early stages. Edit: Looks like Domani just had the BPM quadrupled. The red note syndrome led me to believe some color had been placed there the converter didn't recognize.
