First because I mistrust any speech that consists of saying "It was better before" because of how caricatural it is to my mind (you're mainly carrying favor to something you come from/something you know ahead something you aren't coming from and whose you're prone to focus more on what's negative/different instead of what's obejctively positive. Naturally that means you're also prone to focus more on what was positive instead of what was objectively bad about "older music"). Also, not using "real instruments" may not be so much of a negative point on the aesthetical ground. What makes music good isn't simply "using true instruments", there is a huge part lying in the sole fact of composing harmonies and melodies and all that mess y'know, it's something related to the "idea" and not mere acoustic sensations. This is what differentiates a moving piece played by terrible midi soundwaves from a bad tune played by real instruments. Second because I have troubles associating what you said with what happens in our community (and that's the important part!!). I don't even think that's the problem at all. People are stepping a wide variety of genres from a wide variety of eras and that hasn't changed a bit since... 2007 ??? We haven't stopped improving since the beginning. I have a hard time figuring how "music these days" and the fact "New song packs are slowly dying/barely being updated/take a while to make" are relevant or even related. I don't think the problem is about whether or not things were better before but about what you ignore and what you actually know of the thing you're talking about (current community and today's music).
