One of the ways I've found to reduce lag is to right click on the application and click properties. I set the game to run in 620x480 (something like that). Also, under the 'view' tab of the flashplayer and click to run in low quality. Make sure also to close any background programs. I had to disable automatic windows updating, and that freed up a lot of my sporadic lag.
