There is a very real difference between "clinical deppression" and just being very sad. It has to do with some kind of chemical imbalance in your brain, not producing enough of somthing or another, or your neurotransmitters not being able to communicate properly. You cannot just snap yourself out of it and fix it with better self-esteem, and it doesn't have to be triggered by anything that is going on in your life. I'm nowhere near an expert on the medical science that deals with depression, but, from personal experience and professional treatment, I DO know that much.
