Thought I would make a new topic for this since the old one was over a year old.
Has anyone wanted to play Jubeat before? I just played it yesterday at the arcade I usually go to with DarkRazor after getting my e-amusement pass. As far as I remember, the playing price was 3 tokens (which would cost $1.50) but in some other places, it costs $2 per play. From what I remember, you can use your e-amusement pass and register your name for play and your score will add up to your account like in Beatmania. The game also allows more than 6 characters to register, comparing to BM which 6 was the limit. But the name input was pretty much like a phone; you hit one key several times and it'll scroll through the selection of the letters. To be honest, the game is really easy to get used to. Even though my first song got a rank C, I got a rank A on the next few songs. Another thing that's fun is to play in several hand styles, and switch between them without trouble. You can try one hand for easy songs, cross your hands across the screen, use your thumbs and so on. As far as song choices go, most are Japanese pop and rock kind of songs. I think these are for most of the level 1 to 5 songs. Although, as the Bemani games go, we have the occasional popular American song, and in this case, it was YMCA! Just knowing it was there gave me a good laugh. Oh yeah, there was a sort of Online/Local play you could do. When you play the game, it'll ask if you want to play songs Online, Locally or not do so. I just picked Online for the lulz. After selecting a song, you will wait a minute or so in this waiting room until a player comes in. The room can have 4 players (including yourself). And when you play the song, you get a live feed of your opponents' scores, pretty much like SMO. All in all, Jubeat is pretty cool and really fun to just try out. Works even better with other people. |
