DCP2
Behold. The next Dark Chancellor undertaking is now begun. We are aiming for around 35-40 files this time around. Under Dark Chancellor doctrine, if an author is able to produce one good file, it has a good chance of being included, with each successive submission by the author being judged more strictly than the last. So all you small fries out there, get to work making that one awesome file, or more if you think you're good enough. Bewitness the resplendent submissions email address darkchancellors2@gmail.com (submissions open to the public) Look upon the rules and know true peace - You can submit index files or anything you want, but they're going to be judged as spread files, except for maybe the one token index file that finds its way into every pack. -As a general rule, primary charts (the main chart intended to be played) should not be below 1 on the DCP difficulty scale nor exceed 10. No file will be rejected on this basis alone but it will play as a factor and we may request an additional chart be added before acceptance. -Hands, quads, mines, freezes etc are all permitted to any extent. Rolls (modified freezes that must be tapped continuously to hold) are not as they will crash certain versions of SM. Behold the judges The dark chancellors will be judging the pack. Anyone with access to the DCP2 forum is currently a judge. We're still discussing whether or not we need more. Active judges at the moment: Puppet Kil npv stargroup random other people I can't remember Kil quick guide to making files Making a simfile is surprisingly easy. You don't need to know any nonsense about layering or pitch relevancy or notes accurate to 192nd timing. Since the game is about music, what you ought to be worrying about is how to accentuate the good parts of the music through the arrows. Think about the song. What makes it sound good? (hint it's usually not the mechanical 16th drums in the background) What combination of arrows can bring the music to life? The only thing left is to test your hypothesis in the simfile editor. This is the only efficient way of testing whether or not your steps feel fun and totally bring out the spirit of the music. By playtesting every single bar in the editor over and over, you can create a perfect file. You will have created life where there was none. You will in effect become, a god............................................................ ![]() By the way if your song isn't good, it's not possible to make good steps for it.
